Answer:
I would not try to grow this or any grass seed by just throwing it on top of the ground. Rake the area, lightly break up the soil, and spread the seed. Then when it rains or when you lightly spray it with the hose the loose soil will become muddy and will cover the seed with a light layer of mud. I think that's the secret.

I used a spreader and it worked just fine. All i did was rake out as much of the big rocks as I could with a bow rake which also helped loosen up the dirt.

I just spread mine on the top, I did not work it into the soil as other products have said to do. It grew very well, I was happy with the turn out.

Yes you can use a spreader, and no it won't grow if it is just spread on top of the ground. I even put fresh dirt down and it still didn't grow. The only grass I got to grow was Scott's Turfbuilder Landscaper's Mix from Lowes.

Answer:
I mix seed and starter fertilizer together and then mix into some top soil in a wheel barrow at the recommended amount. I then spread the soil. This is for large area reseeding after filling and leveling with lesser screened soil. For overseeding you can use a spreader if the seed package gives instructions for such, but the birds will peck it up to some extent.

Yes, you can use a spreader. In fact it is usually better to use a spreader because you get more even distribtuion of the seed. Not recommended to just spread on the ground. You may get some to sprout/grow, but usually what will happen is the seed dries out after it has started to soften/sprout and drying out will kill it. Answer:
This seed may be applied by using a spreader. Scotts does provide spreader settings on the product label for our spreaders. Proper preparation of the seed bed, prior to applying grass seed will help you achieve the best results. We suggest loosening soil to a depth of at least 1/4" inch and then leveling the area before applying grass seed.

I started to see some grass within a week and half or so. At first it looks bare but when all of the seed starts to grow it really looks thick and lush. I think they use different types of grass mixed in which is why some grows fast and some takes a bit more time to grow in. Within 3-4 weeks my yard went from dirt to lush grass!

Answer:
The recommendation is that you not cut the grass until it is at least 3 inches high. Any starter fertilizer you use with it will last quite a while. I would wait a couple mowings before you use any kind of halts product on it.

The bag states it can cover 750 square feet, however when using as a patch to existing grass I found I tend to use it up faster. For large areas I would recommend the use of the Scotts spreader you can dial the coverage and it makes it much easier to distribute.

I believe it's 1,500 square feet. But it depends on what your doing, reseed should cover enough but if your over seeding a area may take more. All the info is on the back of the bag.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great to patch up sparse areas I wish I got a bigger bag, for the backyard. I used this to fill gaps between sod that was laid last fall, and by the sewer cap that was recently dug out. It works great! I used a handheld spreader over the entire lawn, and concentrated around the hole of the sewer cap with my bare hands. As you can see, my lawn on the left is much plusher than my neighbor's on the right. I did fertilize with Scott's Weed and Feed earlier in the season. Now I have the greenest, fullest lawn in the neighborhood! Thanks Scotts! May 10, 2016
