The grass is a perfect match to what I already have. It is close to Blue Grass and continues to grow in summer and stops in winter.

Scotts brand is in it for the money not the quality. If you really want to see growth, apply a good top soil ( not scotts. too many wood chunks in it and trash inside) over the grass seed. Lighly water every day to keep it moist and POW. You have grass. Fescue grows great in the southeastern part of the US and some parts of the southwest. Drought tolerent is about a medium to high as the foot traffic. Thats probably TMI but i hope it helps Read Less

Answer:
This product is a Tall Fescue Mix. Tall fescue is a cool season grass type, that remains green in the winter in your area. It has moderate heat tolerance, but will not stand up to the extreme southern heat as well as some of the warm season grasses like Bermuda.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 145 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by HORRIBLE PRODUCT I have grown more than a few lawns from seed. This time I only needed to seed roughly 700 square feet of lawn. The area was prepped and I broadcasted the seed. I used 2.5 bags, more than enough to cover. I covered with Kelloggs Topper. 4 weeks later and the lawn is patchy at best, and bald in most areas. I can see a difference where the first bag actually did better than the second. Not that it did well, just better. This is totally unacceptable. Do not waste your time or money on this product. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Scotts Grass started growing within eight days. Cover with straw and watered daily. June 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best grass seed Purchased a bags of seed after clearing out a section of my yard. The brand and the statement on the bag which states seed thrives in summer conditions was what attracted me to the product. Followed the "simple steps for success" even went a step further and covered the seed in steer Manure. I watered daily twice/three times a day. Out of a 3lb bag I did not get one new blade of grass. 3 weeks later I went out and purchased a cheap bag of seed few bucks. Tilled the dirt and all the seed was in the dirt just as it was when I laid it down. Reseeded and the cheap seed grow in a few days. June 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not much seed I bought a 7 lb bag of tall fescue and when I opened it found mostly filler. according to package percentage there was not but about 1 lb of seed the rest was filler which I should have read about it first, and most of the planted area did not grow at all. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product did not work at all. I am in Sunny Southern California. One of the easiest location for growing grass. Mild spring, some Rain, sunny days with temperatures around 65 to 75. Purchased two 7lb bags from low's and spent many hours preparing the soil as instructed for reseeding. Made sure the ground stay moist, and everything else. However, It has been more than a month and not a single seed germinated. After a month, the top spread is gone, and I am looking at a bunch of blue little dead seeds everywhere. It was a waste of time and money. Never again would purchasing any of the Scott’s Crab. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product didn't work as expected I was tired of using other grass seed and decided to go with what I thought was a high quality seed, so I bought the Scotts products. 9 bags of seed and starter fertilizer for a very large lawn. Most of the product didn't germinate, although many broadleaf weeds did. Yard preparation was in accordance with the Scotts website. After 30 days of very little activity, I went back to the store where I purchased the product to find out that the product had expired 6 months before it was purchased. I was told to write Scotts. I believe that the product will work if not expired, I think I got a bad deal. A product rep should be checking the product for expiration. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by grass to last Got small bag for several small areas. Sowed the seed in fall, after doing some re-landscape, & it is coming up in every area sewed. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Scott's Tall Fescue Mix is Amazing We had multiple problems with large bare patches in about a third of our lawn as a result of being overrun with crab grass last summer. After removing the crab grass and wire grass, we over seeded with Scott's Tall Fescue in the Fall and now have a beautiful lush lawn. All of the bare spots have filled in and our lawn is thick and green. We also used Scott's Wintergard with weed protection and even now in January (we live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland) our lawn is beautiful and I am still mowing. We use all of Scott's products and wouldn't use anything else. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] January 9, 2016
