Customer Questions & Answers

Can this product burn or kill your yard if you apply to much.

Asked by: Rattler
I applied a "heavier" amount in certain sections of my lawn where the dandelion population was excessive. It did not produce any negative results on my lawn. But you should probably follow the directions as indicated.

What is the purpose of Zero Phosphorus?

Asked by: WillyJ
Once phosphorous is applied to the soil it can bond with other molecules to form insoluble compounds. In this form, it is virtually impossible to remove. Since many people apply "complete" N-P-K fertilizer every year, it builds up in the soil and often becomes problematic. The same sort of thing often happens with lime - annual application can make your soil too alkaline. The truth is, you should never apply anything to your soil unless you know that it needs it. The easiest way to determine this is to do a soil test. Your local Department of Agriculture will probably analyze soil samples for free or inexpensively, depending on the time of the year. Contact them for instructions and test sample boxes.

Can I use this while trying to reseed my pawn for some bare patches?

Asked by: Manishj
Weed controls will damage or destroy new seed. Wait until your new lawn has grown enough to have been mowed at least 4 times before using a weed control of any kind on the newly seeded area.

How long do you have to wait to put the lawn clippings in your garden?

Asked by: Tommy
Per a Scotts representative, you should wait 2-3 days after a rain before mowing. The granules need to get wet from the rain and absorb into the ground. mowing before then is kind of pointless.

Customer Reviews

Turf Builder 43.07 lb. 15M Weed and Feed is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 1411.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great results over time We needed to restore our total lawn of two acres. The lawn was covered with weeds and weak grasses with bare spots all over. Over a steady regiment of three years, with just two applications a year, we now have a lush grass lawn. We pulled plugs once a year and seeded with Scott sun & shade seed. It takes some time and attention with patience. But if you stay steady and work with the proper mowing techniques, fertilize with Scott products and applying granulated lime to control the PH, the results will come.... Please note, here in Michigan, seems the best combination is Scott fertilizers and the granulated lime simply twice a year ( early spring and mid-fall )

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product works but slowly Clover killed fast but it speeds up Dandelion growth at first... takes 3 weeks or more to kill the Dandelions ..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great dandelions gone in a little over 1 week Had major dandelion this year after last year I was dandelion free. Lot of seeds from neighboring yards. I put this down on a Saturday by next Sunday you could visibly see the dandelions dying. About 3 days after and 1 more mowing the lawn looks dandelion free. I'm not sure how the others with the negative reviews are using but I followed direction to a T. I just really don't like the price point. But I didn't want to go with a different brand since last year I used this as well with same results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From mowing weeds to mowing grass Very pleased with the results as expected. Applied the product Memorial Day with excellent results. Now that Labor Day is approaching I'm ready to put it to work once again. I'm confident that by next Spring/Summer I'm expecting a 98% weed free lawn. Very happy with the product. Follow the directions and you will see positive results. I'm mowing grass now as opposed to mowing weeds. Hey, maybe next year I'll be the lawn of the month which our town gives out to homeowners.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope! We applied this to our lawn as directed on the bag and used a spreader(Scott's) per the directions as well. Two weeks later, dandelions are not even close to being gone plus there's more! Our yard is also striped....light green and dark green. Like it burnt some of the grass? Never had that happen before. This product does not work as advertised on the bag and we followed the directions. The Scotts spreader was nice and worked as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thousands of Homes I build homes for a large volume home builder in the West. Over the last twenty years I have personally handled thousands (no fib) of homes from dirt to completion. I use Scotts product on my personal property nearly exclusively. I share this with the bulk of my interested homeowners and neighbors. I see there are reviews of these fertilizers where people have not achieved their desired results. I too have had failures in my own yard that I wanted to ascribe to the products I have applied, only to find out that it was my application method that was the culprit. Fertilizers are not a miracle cure for otherwise poor yard management practices. Care, time, recognition, consistency. I know that when I apply a Scotts product, per the directions on the bag, three days later I can see it's working and a week later it has done exactly what I thought it would. This "weed and feed" has been no exception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product After 2 applications my lawn was basically weed free and very green. Just make sure you apply when ground is wet so the granules can stick to the weeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance as advertised! I usually have bad experiences with lawn care products. Expecting failure I saved my receipt because of the satisfaction warranty. I had a lot of dandelions and clover as well as many other unidentified weeds that were sadly creeping into my yard. I applied exactly as the direction described allowing the lawn to be wet prior to applying. I did not mow the lawn immediately before but rather applied it about three days after mowing. 2 mows later I have almost zero weeds. I applied a liquid concentrate mix using a tank sprayer to the small amount of weeds that remained and my yard is now almost weed free. Other notes. I applied in early June prior to extreme heat.
