Can I use this plus weed and feed?

We just bought a house and the yard is mostly grass (very weeded) but around the edge of the house and random spots in the lawn there are bare spots. Plus some spots we're planning to level and pull out bushes. Can I use this on the bare spots and the weed and feed on the regular grass to get rid of the weeds? Or should I just apply this everywhere? Or what would be the ideal remedy? Thx

Answer:
No you can't because the weed and feed will cause your seeds not to germinate (need to wait 4-6 weeks after your weed killer product). Unless you have a highly designed chemical compound that can differentiate grass seed from weed seed :)

Answer:
You can use the Turf Builder Sun and Shade Mix seed on any of the bare areas. Do not apply a weed control to the new seed until the new grass has been mowed at least 4 times. If applying Turf Builder Weed & Feed, you cannot reseed for at least 4 weeks after the application.

Answer:
No , you can not use weed and feed with new grass seed. you have to plant the seed and let it germinate . It is one or the other either new seed or fertilizer, perhaps fill bare spots with sod and then fertilize .

Answer:
Scotts Turf Builder Sun & Shade Mix is a cool season grass mix of Kentucky Blue, Rye and Fescue varieties. Although it will grow in zone 8 it may not thrive. Warm season grass types may be better suited for the area.

I am in a new house and the yard has areas of good grass but also areas or flat leafy weeds and other grassy weeds. I am planning to apply the Scotts Turf Builder +2 Weed and Feed, then wait 4 weeks and seed my lawn.

Is that the correct sequence (zone 6, it is mid-April)? What fertilizer works best?

Answer:
Four weeks is the correct wait time for seeding. You will want to use a starter fertilizer when you seed as well.

Answer:
I saw a weed & feed product available that is new seedling safe.
I would suggest that product to get a jump start and keep the grass at a 3inch+ height until you notice the weeds have subsided. Otherwise, use a liquid spray weed killer and throw down some annual rye seed and wait until the fall to try and seed the areas again with a quality perennial grass seed

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product I used a hand spreader to apply this to my bare yard for initial seeding and it worked quite well. I had to apply a second bag after a couple of weeks due to bare spots, most of those spots are filling in but I still have some work to do, considering this seed is not meant to fill in a brand new yard I think it did a great job. I live in a brand new neighborhood and I was the only person to not do either hydro seed or sod and my lawn looks as good, if not better than others who hydro seeded, plus it was less expensive. Seeding in my area of the country is not easy considering the high winds and inconsistent weather. One day it will be 35 degrees and the next it can be 85 degrees but I still managed the seed to grow with reasonable expectations. I have to mention that I did follow the directions as closely as possible, I had a fence up to block any wind, my sprinklers ran on a timer with no dry times/spots and I applied it during early spring when it didn't get overwhelmingly hot. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not germinate in perfect weather (and with a sprinkler system) Planted in accordance with the manufacturers instructions in perfect weather (cool damp spring in the Northeast, and I have an automatic sprinkler system). Very disappointing, because I have been a Scotts customer for as long as I have gardened. Now I have to spot sod in late May. May 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bringing the Yard Back I haven't used this yet? I have in the past. Worked great in my back yard. June 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by All that has come up from this seed are weeks and dandelions. Avoid this product. This product has been a huge disappointment. We needed to seed a large bare spot in our front yard. We used this seed, mixed in some top soil and watered it. All that came up were weeds and dandelions. I would not use this product again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good Product I had heard so much about Scott Turf Builder grass seed and I was having trouble with dead spot in my yard. This solved the problem; not as easy as the commercial makes it seem, but grass began to grow quickly. May 17, 2016
