Bought 80# worth to fix patches in lawn that were killed by Bayer Weed Killer (weeds are growing again so assuming the poison is gone throughout the areas - also this "Weed only" killer is supposed to be safe for grass but killed EVERYTHING). NOTHING grew (note: the grass in the center of the photo is some of our old grass). Planted Labor Day weekend (supposedly "prime time" to plant new grass seed). Still no results beginning of December (we had a warm fall).

I did the comparison of the Scott's product and penningtons. After a month the Scott's is still a bare patch the Pennington has to be mowed this week. I have used the Scott's in the past with the same results. Since the fertilizers are top notch and the big box store had both products next to each other, I thought I would give the Scott's another try. The area where I used the Pennington may be the thickest on my yard . The Scott's area barley has a hint of new growth. By the way I watered daily and we are in the middle of a short heat wave in NY.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Gildeap2 Did not work as advertised
This is advertised as grows anywhere guaranteed, well I can say that is not true. In our yard we have a long strip of lawn that gets only a few hours of sunlight a day. I prepared everything just as I should and watered the lawn everyday and after 2 weeks nothing. There was little strands of grass in very few spots but nothing like it should have been. I ended up having to totally redo that part of the yard and started over with another seed from Pennington and the grass finally grew as it should have in the first place. I would not recommend this product because it does not grow anywhere as it states. I waste money on 2 big bags of this for nothing and lost 3 weeks of using my yard. Do not use.

I followed the directions, watered when necessary and yet after 3 weeks maybe 4, just a few baby grass sprouted. What a disappointment. Imagine a hair product that promises a full head of hair, and instead not even enough for a side comb.

I used EZ Seed for Sun & Shade to patch an area of my backyard that was denuded when my Patio was repaved. I initially planned to sod the area, but saw the EZ Seed at the garden center and decided to try it. I have tried patch products before that did not work. I applied EZ Seed and saw grass sprouts within 2 weeks, It is now 4 weeks since I poured EZ Seed on the area and I have grass about 2" tall. I have told several family members and neighbors about my experience with EZ Seed and they are trying it.
Thank you for a product that works!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ch5249 Great if you want a patch of weeds.
I purchased this product along with Turf Builder 1.5 cu. ft. Lawn Soil to fill in a bare patch in my lawn.
The grass began to grow in nicely and I was really very happy. I came out one morning to water the grass and the ENTIRE patch had been taken over by one type of weed. This weed isn't present anywhere else in my yard (or my neighbors' yards, I checked).
I wanted to test and make sure that it really was the fault of these products so I used both the EZ Seed and the LawnSoil to grow a patch of grass in a container. The grass began to grow and then the entire container was taken over by the same weed.
My lawn is far from perfect. You can see that by looking at the photo I've uploaded with this review. I have dandelions and thistle and a few other kinds of weeds as well. But this was supposed to be a step towards fixing the lawn and instead it just introduced another weed into the mix.
In the photo you can see EXACTLY where the grass seed was planted because it's EXACTLY the same area as the patch of weeds. I planned on seeding the other area of bare soil in the photo at the same time as this patch but I'm glad I didn't waste my time.
What a huge waste of money and all the time and effort I put into preparing the bare patch of my lawn for seeding. I have to start over from scratch and I won't be using ANY Scotts products this time around.

We purchased this product at Lowes to fill in bare area after having some trees removed. We followed directions but not have any grass grow to speak of.
We used Scotts lawn soil and fertilizer. We had at least 4 inches of soil and used Turf Builder starter per the directions. (The label says that type can be used when planting new grass)
Scotts products are usually pretty dependable but this time EZ Seed fizzled...

Excellent results - threw some potting soil on the bare area, followed by the seed mixture 15 days later the area is better than ever
