Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by reb177 3 weeks later virtually no new grass
I was eager to use this EZSeed from Scotts to revive a rather large patch of my lawn that succumbed to my dog's toxic waste (pictures 1). I bought a new Ryobi cultivator to loosen up the ground and it worked quite well (picture 2). I spread the EZSeed and watered the area twice each day for 2 weeks, all as instructed (pictures 3 + 4). I was severely disappointed that no new grass appeared after 2 weeks, but waited a third week before writing this review. A very few fluffs of widely dispersed new grass finally appeared, but not even enough to look covered (pictures 5 + 6). Big disappointment.

Quite impressed! I had an 8 X 10 ft. bare spot right next to my septic holding tank where I could never grow grass in the past.
I threw down a bit of fresh top soil over this spot, then used a roller to compact it, and finally scratched the surface with a rake before applying this product.
The coverage area stated by Scotts, was pretty accurate, and the fact that it has the starter fertilizer, plus it lets you know when it needs water, and that their added mulch into this product HOLDS water longer..... was a no-brainer.
I had new grass sprouting within 8 days, ever after I missed a day or two of watering!
Prepare your bare soil properly-and you won't be disappointed.

Scott's makes quality products so I know I can't go wrong using this sun and shade grass seed mix to fill in an area beside my porch. The seeds haven't germinated yet but I expect them to start within a few more days. I always recommend using Scott's products.
I have a couple more areas around my yard that I also plan on using the seed mix on to fill in the bare spots.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HomeAnnie So easy and grows fast
I’m super impressed with this seed. I planted a patch 5 days ago in a mostly shady area and it already has 1 ½” blades! I couldn’t believe how fast it germinated. The mulch mixture holds moisture well so doesn’t require as much watering as typical seed applications, and it changes color when water is needed, so it’s foolproof if you watch it.
The bottle for this 3.75 lb size is nicely designed with a pour spout that spreads the seed mixture out evenly as it’s poured.
The mixture is such that the birds didn’t notice the seed and eat it like they usually do. I don’t see many seeds in it, but I think some are buried within the mulch clumps because more grass grew than I expected. It is a little thin though, so I may have to re-apply another layer in autumn the fill it in more if additional blades don’t come up.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by parttimehack It goes fast - need another bottle
for a large yard with a lot of brown patches - just one bottle isn't enough. I like the idea, but I think the product is geared for small grassy areas with "here-and-there" bald patches.I used this up quickly and I don't think I really gave it the coverage that I think meets the manufacturer's instruction. That's why I say: "it goes fast..."

It's taking a while but grass is growing and filling in the bare spots slowly but surely. Easy to prepare the ground and to plant and maintain the seed.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Buzz47 Grows Weeds
We added on to the house so I bought Scotts seed nothing but the best right! WRONG I grew no grass but I did grow weeds. The seed doesn't attach to the ground you can pull it up like a carpet. All the years wasted trying to get grass and lots of money spent. They should call it SCOTTS WEED SEED. I took a video and I going to put it on YOU TUBE.

I am so disgusted, I don't even want to mow my lawn anymore. I bought 3 jugs of this junk. I now have nothing but weeds. The city dug up my lawn this spring. They planted some grass. I used this to fill in the gaps. it is NOTHING BUT WEEDS. And thick weeds that are hard to edge. Now next spring i get to look forward to trying to dig this junk up and try again. At my age this is not an easy feat. Lesson learned. Next time google it and read the reviews.
