Can a new screen be purchased for this door?

We have one of these doors, but the screen is torn. Can we unscrew the old one, purchase a new one and screw it back on?
Asked by: BigHouseOwner
This door has a set of aluminum channels in it. They are designed to accept a fiberglass or plastic screen that press-fits into the channels using a rubber gasket. Then you can cut the screen down to size. It is pretty easy, but see the comment on painting.

This screen door is way over priced...no better than a door costing $50-$60. The screen insert is a great feature, but it could not be removed without damaging the adjacent wood. Installed too tightly. There were other parts of the surface that were damaged...split wood. Finally. the front of the door was made with small pieces, some not more than 6-8 inches in length. For the price of the door, scraps of wood should not have been used. Home Depot should never order any product from this supplier again. I will say that I received a gift card for partial cost that I incurred to hire an installer, but the effort was a waste of 4 hours.

There were rips in the wood that were not necessary. I was not aware that I would have to totally fill the holes and sand the entire door before I could stain it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from defective door Here are 3 reasons not to buy from this manufacturer: 1. One of the wooden slots was split. This was not due to transport, since the box in which the door was shipped had no dents and the wood splitting was vertical. 2. The joints on the top edge of the door exhibited large gaps at the seam that the manufacturer did not care to fill. 3. The quality of the wood used in the door is questionable: Some of the wood used in the door shows darker, bluish pigmentation, typical of moldy wood or wood that has been improperly handled during the drying process. 4. The wood pieces used in the door frame have sharp contrasts of color, in some cases, atypical of healthy wood. This means this door needs painting to hide its flaws.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as it seems First, the door was shipped with a significant defect. The wood joints did not meet. Also, it is made of numerous pieces of wood so it cannot be stained. One would think that a wood screen door could be stained. It does not state in the description if the door is stain grade or not. And, it does not come with any hardware. This is stated in the description, but just be aware.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Screen Door Believe the reviews- this screen door is utter trash. It is not the same quality as the ones sold in the store. The frame is made of glued 10" sections of pine that don't even look straight. I returned it and special ordered a door at the store- which was 1/3 the cost! Home Depot should not be selling this product.
