Can the body of heater be plugged in up and down, or side to side? My outlet is near the corner.

The unit is designed to be used in the forward upright position. The safety features will automatically shut the unit off if it is turned or tipped. The unit can be wall mounted or sit on the floor.

Yes, but the cord is only eight inches long. If you use an extension cord, it should be short [no more than 6 feet long] and rated for heating units. [12 gauge is good.]

Does this have an extra electrical outlet for other appliances?

Model Sf12ST has an auxiliary outlet which can be used for low wattage appliances. This function is only available if the heater is in the off or low heat (1000 watt) setting.
