Sealkrete is designed to form a barrier from the exposed side of masonry. Therefore, it doesn't work as well if water/moisture is coming in through the product itself. A better product for your situation would be Drylok. Drylok is a paint-like substance that penetrates the pores of masonry or block and prevents water from penetrating from the other side. Sealkrete works in a similar fashion but Sealkrete doesn't have as many solids in it so it is better as a topical treatment meaning that you apply it to a surface to keep water from penetrating the surface rather than applying it to keep water from coming through he block wall.
If the water penetrating the wall is significant, it may warrant exploring whether or not you should dig the dirt away from the wall and apply a sealer to the exterior of the basement wall. This is a big job so you may want to seek pricing from a contractor that specializes in exterior masonry sealers. If the water intrusion is minimal, Drylok should take care of it. Read Less

Answer:
I don't think this will help with your block walls. It goes on really thin and penetrates
I would use Drylok Extreme for your walls. It can be put on even damp walls and will adhere. 2 coats are recommended ( I would use 3 ) and then it can be top coated with a latex paint if desired.
Drylok is tough stuff and has a good warranty with it. It will stop your leaking as long as there are no holes and cracks

Drylok is tough stuff and has a good warranty with it. It will stop your leaking as long as there are no holes and cracks that need to be filled. Once filled, apply Drylok and you're good to go.....

Dear carousel313,
No, Seal-Krete Original is a breathable film which will not stop water with that type of pressure. You will need to use a coating which is Hydrophobic such as our Damp Lock which white in color but is paintable. Please see instructions below or visit our Damp Lock data sheet at http://www.seal-krete.com/media/11460/DampLock_122012.pdf. Thank you for your inquiry!

Prep & Prime
Proper surface preparation is critical to the success of all SEAL-KRETE coatings.
SURFACE PREP: New concrete must have cured for a minimum of 30 days. The surface should be clean, sound and free of dirt, dust, oil, wax and grease. DampLock may be used on painted surfaces to improve water resistance; however, surface must be bare concrete for waterproofing. Cleaning:Remove mold/mildew with a solution of 1 part bleach, 3 parts water. Rinse and let dry. Remove efflorescence with a wire brush and solution of 1 part muriatic acid, 9 parts water. Neutralize acid with a solution of baking soda and water (i.e., 1 lb. baking soda, 5 gallons of water). Rinse thoroughly: let dry. Repairs: Repair surface breaks around wall/floor joints and patch cracks with fast-setting hydraulic cement or concrete crack filler, using trowel to smooth patch to surrounding area.
  Apply Paint
SEAL-KRETE DampLock comes as a tint base or premixed in white. It can be tinted to 10 additional colors.  This product is ready to use; do not dilute. Stir thoroughly before (and occasionally during) use. DampLock may be applied to a damp surface; however, application to a dry surface provides best results. Apply first coat with a ½” to ¾” nap roller cover or high quality, nylon-polyester brush. Use a brush to work paint into the grout lines. Allow to dry 3 hours, then apply second coat. 2 coats are recommended for waterproofing and are required for any warranty claims.
Note: If leak occurs after applying 2 coats, pin holes may be present. Paint these areas again, using a brush to work paint into the pores.
Dries in 2-3 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Wait 24 hours before topcoating with latex/acrylic paint, if desired.

You wouldn't want to seal durarock before you tiled over it. The durarock needs to be rough and porous in order to receive the mastic that will stick the tile to the durarock. Dear Tina,
Because Original is breathable, constant pressure would get through. We would not recommend using it on your shower wall application. Thank you!

Can this be used to seal outside steps?

I had the outside steps re-done last summer - the bottom step complete and the others "patched". Was told the complete was sealed also. After the winter snow and ice, looks to be not so! The bottom step is flaking. Will this product seal the step and the spots that were repaired? I have spent so much on these steps since I bought the house in 2009, I thought I had solved the problem having one replaced and the others repaired.

Answer:
Yes. Sealkrete will allow water to bead on the surface once you get a couple of coats on the steps. The barrier it provides is not like a varnish so you won't have to worry about the steps becoming too slick when they get wet.

Answer:
SEAL-KRETE Original can be used as a primer ONLY if you are going to repaint, but may or may not be compatible with previous coatings. It also will not go over a paint and stop it from peeling as peeling happens from the bottom up. Please contact SEAL-KRETE Technical Services for further discussion. Thank you!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Seal Crete great product I'm a painting contractor. Great bonding pre coat.Use on raw stucco before paint.Or chalky sufaces. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Sealer This product is a concrete and masonry sealer. However, it works well on any cementitious porous surface. I use it to seal my tile grout and it outperforms all other tile sealers. This product is best applied with a foam applicator which allows you to carefully seal grout in no time. I quit buying tile sealer years ago when I got tired of re-sealing every year. Two coats of this sealer will last for years. I sealed my shower floor 10 years ago and it still looks brand new, no mold, no mildew. I would definitely recommend this product for any cementitious surface. March 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible! I used on my driveway and gave ample time to dry. When husband got home that day and everyday since then it has absorbed the tire marks. Now i need a concrete stripper to undo the damage because the tread marks will not come off. June 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by waterproofing review cant really say for sure yet. Just put it on basement walls. cant review for a while as to how it works. The product was easy to alloy and clean up. So far it has been great. lets see how it seals March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great - the one and only for vertical surfaces This stuff is the greatest. Do your prep work, clean your surface, then slather this stuff on - two coats, since its so easy, and just goes on with a garden sprayer; let it dry, and top coat with a quality paint, and your paint job will last forever. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality through and through. I have been using this product for more than ten years and I will not install any exterior wood door or piece of wood without it. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked like a charm. This sealer was used on an older indoor fountain with a serious sweat problem. After applying half dozen coats to interior of fountain, problem solved. After each coat was applied waited at least one hour to dry before applying new coat. Went on clear, dried fast. Three weeks later still no sweat. Very satisfied and would highly recommend. Great quality, great price. October 6, 2015
