Answer:
According to the web page, this is NOT available in stores. If the coating you are adding this to is water resistant then yes. That is dependent on the coating.

Answer:
It is water resistant. They are miniscule polymer beads that stay suspended in application as opposed to silicone sand that will clump and not give a smooth finish. It needs to be ordered on line, but can be delivered to the store for pick up.

My local HD store didn't stock it, but I ordered it online and it shipped to the store free in about a week. I wasn't able to find it in stock at any other local hardware or paint stores. They all had pumice or sand based additives.

Answer:
Hey Fisholic,
Since the Solid Color stain seeps into the substrate and doesn't coat it like a paint, the anti-skid additive won't really work.
Since the stain wouldn't properly dry over additive, it would remain sticky and can be removed easily over time.
With that said, I'd recommend for you use indoor/outdoor runners and/or friction tape on high traffic areas instead of the additive.

Answer:
Yes. Just add minimum (used 2 bags personally) 1 bag per gallon to the top coating. It will give a sandpaper effect. Fine grit.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use. Seems to have provided a nice non slip surface to our patio. Would use again. October 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clear Grip Followed the directions on the package, sure enough with just one final coat it added a transparent anti-skid coating to my outdoor slate patio. I jumped in the pool then gave it a slide test soaking wet, just the right amount of stick. I'm impressed. This small package of Clear Grip is intended to add to 1 gallon of sealer. I added 1/3 of the anti-skid package to 1/3 gallon of Behr Wet Look sealer. Didn't think it would be enough product to do anything but sure enough it works perfectly to prevent slipping on our slate floor with wet feet. Completely transparent as advertised. Great Product. We have used the water based Behr 98501 Wet Look sealer for over 15 years, adding a fresh coat every year. Works perfectly for us, love that wet look ... but it was slippery when wet. NOT ANYMORE. As an added tip never apply the Wet Look Sealer directly to stone or tile, always start by using a penetrating sealer first, then the Wet Look. We used the Behr 98001, confusingly they call it a Protector and Waterproofer, but actually it is a water based penetrating sealer. Initially it took the entire gallon of the 98001 to seal 160 square feet, the slate sucked it up like a straw. After that we applied 4 light coats of the 98501. As long as you add a fresh coat or 2 of the Wet Look every year, you never need to use the penetrating sealer ever again. We are on our 3rd gallon of Behr Wet Look after 15 years, only now we don't slip and slide when wet. 3 excellent products ...if used as advertised ... Highly Recommended! May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anti Skid Add this stuff to the last coat of your coating on your decks, and steps and you have a light sand paper finish that is not slippery. October 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! The product definitely works! And the price was great! July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised! Had a very slippery front porch. Added this product to a gallon of sickens and it solved my problem. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use non-skid additive I used this product in a smooth deck paint for the floor of an outrigger canoe. I didn't want to use sand or pumice that other brands use. It mixed easily and I applied it with a 6" roller. It is a very fine powder and created just enough of a rough surface to keep it from being slippery. It will not feel rough but there is some texture to it. I don't know how it will hold up with usage yet. November 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing Product This added the perfect amount of traction to the garage floor epoxy I was putting down-it mixes easy, does not change the color of the paint, and leaves a great smooth but sandy/gritty feeling surface that is non-slip even when wet! October 27, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by clear grip Worked Okay - not stellar. You can feel the grip but the surface is still slightly slippy so not thrilled with the performance September 8, 2015
