Iam restoring my concrete pool deck which has Cool Deck light texture on it

Can I use this product on the cool deck? Will it bond and won't peel off. I was going to use 'Lock Down" to secure old surface in place and better bond to the new coat. However, I noticed some people use Lock Down on old painted garage floor and had problem. Should i apply directly on the cleaned prep surface? Pl; provide suggestions. Thanks!
Asked by: Bud
Yes, you can use Seal-Krete Epoxy-Seal to refresh the color of Cool Deck. Simply make sure everything is clean and dry prior to application and follow all instructions on the label.

Can you use any brand of primer as long as it is concrete primer?

Asked by: cbw
Seal-Krete Lock-Down Concrete Bonding Primer is specially formulated to work with Epoxy-Seal. While you can use other water-based concrete primers, we can't guaranteed that they would work as well as Lock-Down.

Customer Reviews

Epoxy Seal Armor Gray No.921 1 gal. Concrete and Garage Floor Paint is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding durability! Seven years ago I applied this product to my shop building which is a 30X50 foot metal building. We applied two coats to relatively new concrete. We did not use a primer or sealer. The product has withstood frequent oil and gas spills, constant tractor and truck driving over it and drops of heavy tools without a scratch! I'm now purchasing additional Epoxy Seal to coat my garage floor. I do not understand the negative comments as this product exceeds any manufactures statements on quality and durability!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works good I used this on an indoor garage floor that had not been previously painted. I used only vinegar for oily spots and cleaned with a wet mop. Not other prep or primer. Worked great. I sprinkled the flakes after painting every 3x3 foot area (it has to still be very wet for the flakes to stick). The flakes help appearance a lot. Applies and cleans just like water-based flat paint. It applies thin and covered well (400 sq ft) on my 1979 concrete basement floor that was not very smooth like some garage floors nor excessively rough like a driveway. See my review on the 5 gallon for more details about outside and using sand. People were impressed with the improvement in the basement after painting the floor....and that was before adding drywall and drop-ceiling.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from does not prevent hot tire pick-up.. i applied this product when epoxy-ing my garage floor.. this was applied to my washed concrete garage that had been painted with simple outdoor paint and displayed hot tire pick-up and stains from the previos owner.. i thoughly washed and scrubbed the floor and removed any peeling paint and let air dry.. applied the Seal-Crete Lock Down primer to "bond" the epoxy primer to the floor and prevent hot tire pick-up.. painted everything on with a roller/extension.. primer was dry after 4 to 5 hours and good enough to walk on, but i wanted to wait 24 hours before applying my epoxy.. this product covered my 20 x 20 garage with a thin coat - needed two gallons to do two coats, first coat thin, second coat medium.. let first coat dry for 3 days, the second, 5 days.. also applied clear coat sealer, two coats, 24 hours between, and waited 5 days to drive cars into the garage, as directed.. not satisfied - after 1 month i have hot tire pick-up.. does not work as advertised.. it is also ridiculously slippery when wet or you have on shoes that are wet from walking on wet grass or simple slick bottom shoes.. i took great care/caution and followed directions religiously for application, as this takes a TON of time and money (130$ in all) and do not feel like it was worth it at all..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never again After 2 coats and 3 weeks drying time a bead of sweat fell from my brow & discolored the paint. I called the Epoxy hotline & they sent a gallon of sealer to me. After applying sealer & waiting 1 week of drying time, every line from the paint roller could be seen. A complete waste of time & money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save your money Followed instructions, including the recommended, including etching. (The concrete is 10 yrs old.) Coverage is supposed to be300-500sq ft, but it barely covered 325. I waited 5 days to drive on it, but it started lifting within a week, under the tires. Waste of time and money.
