Customer Questions & Answers

I have a concrete stain on my garage flooor, can this product be applied over this?

Asked by: Bobs
Dear Bobs, Here are the instructions for previously stained concrete via our Technical Data Sheet available on our SEAL-KRETE website. Preparation is key to the success of Epoxy-Seal application. If you have any questions during the process, please contact a Technical Services Representative at 800-323-7357. Previously Stained Or Painted Concrete: For use over one-part water-based coatings only; not recommended over oil-based coatings. Remove loose or peeling paint and degloss surface by sanding (150–200 grit paper).** Follow with a general cleaning. Rinse thoroughly and let dry. Then coat the surface with SEAL-KRETE Lock-Down Concrete Bonding Primer.

Customer Reviews

Epoxy Seal Low VOC Armor Gray 961 1 gal. Concrete and Garage Floor Paint is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from does not prevent hot tire pick-up.. i applied this product when epoxy-ing my garage floor.. this was applied to my washed concrete garage that had been painted with simple outdoor paint and displayed hot tire pick-up and stains from the previos owner.. i thoughly washed and scrubbed the floor and removed any peeling paint and let air dry.. applied the Seal-Crete Lock Down primer to "bond" the epoxy primer to the floor and prevent hot tire pick-up.. painted everything on with a roller/extension.. primer was dry after 4 to 5 hours and good enough to walk on, but i wanted to wait 24 hours before applying my epoxy.. this product covered my 20 x 20 garage with a thin coat - needed two gallons to do two coats, first coat thin, second coat medium.. let first coat dry for 3 days, the second, 5 days.. also applied clear coat sealer, two coats, 24 hours between, and waited 5 days to drive cars into the garage, as directed.. not satisfied - after 1 month i have hot tire pick-up.. does not work as advertised.. it is also ridiculously slippery when wet or you have on shoes that are wet from walking on wet grass or simple slick bottom shoes.. i took great care/caution and followed directions religiously for application, as this takes a TON of time and money (130$ in all) and do not feel like it was worth it at all..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SealCrete Poor adherence to smooth concrete basement floor, even with recommended primer product from same company. I stripped floor and even power wire-brushed it. Cleaned it well, but the paint started peeling up and flaking within a week. Stripped first coating and wire-brushed again, but second try only last about a week and a half. Note: I used commercial grade carpet tiles with rubber backing over surface after allowing a few days of curing on second try and I suspect it is humidity related. I will not buy this product again.
