how is the flagpole anchored in the ground?

Asked by: db
Instructions seem pretty straight forward. Dig a hole, set the plastic sleeve, and pour a concrete base around it. I used an old plastic 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out as the form for the concrete. I added long piece of pipe that fit inside the aluminum flag pole pipe so the base was deeper in the ground. That pipe was anchored with rocks below the poured concrete base. With the added pipe I could maximize the length of flag pole above ground.

20 ft. Aluminum Flagpole with 3 ft. x 5 ft. U.S. Flag is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 127.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent flagpole Only issue found so far is at the eagle topper did not fit the truck. Had to tap the truck to get threads to match. Had I not had tools necessary to tap truck I would have been unable to install the topper and would have retuned the pole. Other than topper was easy to assemble and install and looks great. Only comes with clips for one flag and they are cheap plastic so recommend buying metal halyard clips unless you want to be searching for your flag(s) once the elements / weather degrade and/or break the plastic clips

I would have given this flagpole a five, if it weren't for the cheap plastic Eagle at the top. Luckily we had the metal Eagle top from our old pole that fit perfectly. The online order for in store pick up worked flawlessly and the service at our local store was great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's winter I bought it for a friend as a Christmas present. It's winter so I haven't helped him dig a hole and pour the concrete base for it. Home Depot keeps sending me emails to review their product so here it is! It's till in the box at his house waiting to be put up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flag pole deficiencies I live just outside of Seattle. This area isn't noted for stormy weather but twice now mi flagpole has bent and broken where sections are staged down for slipping into neighboring sections. All sections are exactly alike. Sections stack one atop the next with pulley and truck at the top. Bottom section fails in the wind where it affixes to the second section. The first time that it occured, I simply removed the bad section and re-installed the pole. It happened for a second time. Now I believe the pole is getting too short. Manufacturer needs to produce stronger sections for the base module.
