Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use 16 Guage and/or other size nails with this nailer.

Asked by: 123sweat
What kind of 16 do you have? Most 15 gauge nailers have angled nails due to the size of the nail head. I wouldn't do it. However I used the recommended nails in this nailer and it misfired so often and jammed I took it back. Get the Porter Cable. Use recommended nails per the gun. Do not mix match sizes. Lengths, yes the lengths can change, there's a variety of lengths.

Looking for something to put in 3/4 " quarter round molding. Is this the right tool?

I do trim carpentry i definetly would use a pin nailer for something so thin as 3/4 in depth. Senco makes an excellent pin nailer that can shoot 3/4" to 1 1/4" pin nails. It doesnt require near as much pressure as this finish nailer needs and if you used this gun for it you would just splinter and break it where you shot at. Where as the pin nailer uses thinner nails and would secure it nicely and do the job very well.

I Think the gun is very nice the only draw back to the nailer that I have come across is that you can not lock open to load a rack of nails if you were up on a ladder it would be difficult to load the nailer not being able to lock open the loading position.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great finish nailer Ive had a few Senco guns over the years and they make some of the best guns on the market with this being no exception. Only 2 small gripes : 1. The non marking pad on the tip does not really stay on and is easily lost. Which they obviously know because it comes with a extra. 2. It comes with a dinky hook that clips on to your belt/pants/anything but the clip is very weak and when pulling the gun off the hook you therefore pull the clip off to. Compared to the 18 gauge model which has a built in clip that I prefer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not dependable, Misfires too often and jams as well. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this product. Used it for four days. It misfired multiple times the first day. By day four it was misfiring, jamming with multiple nails and the firing pin was having difficultly retracting. I've used other brands with more success. I returned this product on day five. I've been using framing and finish nailers for 20+ years.
