How does the override key work and where is it? Is it an actual metal Key or is it an override code?

Specifically, on the box of the Safe, it says "Programmable Digital Lock with Override Key". In case if the electronic keypad malfunctions or the batteries corrode and leaks and destroys the electronic keypad device, where is the override key hole to open the safe? Oh, and this is in reference to the Sentry Safe model EF3428E.
Asked by: kittyulua
The override key bypasses the electronics to open the safe. It gets inserted behind the battery pack behind the keypad. It is a metal key.

Where was this safe made/manufactured ?

Asked by: Anonymous
China, and the mismatch between the mounting holes thru the metal safe and the holes in the insulating material means that waterproofing might be suspect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs polish First: Factory combo cannot be removed. You can set your own tho. Instructions for removing a user-set combination are unclear. Safe arrived in a plain box w/2 stickers (around 4"x6") indicating SentrySafe. Thankfully it was not plastered w/ pictures and things to attract notice during delivery. Safe seems solid and feels substantial overall, BUT, made in China, it needs more attention to detail! (1) One of the two round holes in the safe bottom for attaching it to a floor had poor fit/finish. Namely, the hole in the metal did not align with the hole in the sheetrock-like insulating material. This meant that the washer required for waterproofing would NOT sit flush on the bottom. This basically negated one of the safe's major features. I was able with some effort to shave off enough of the insulator to get the washer installed, but I'm not convinced water won't get in. BEWARE! (2) Bolt-down instructions were sparse, and where it says to use a 3/8" drill bit for concrete, there was NO WAY the hard plastic sheath was going into that small opening. I took some creative license to get it installed, but be prepared for some trial-and-error. Also, BEWARE HUMIDITY, which I was warned about after my purchase. It's apparently not unusual for the humidity inside insulated safes to rise after it's closed and the air cools down on the inside. I measured 71% relative humidity inside after 24 hours (at 70 degrees inside) while my house is 36% RH (at 74 degrees). Apparently some higher end safes include an electrical outlet inside to connect a small heating rod to prevent this problem. This safe doesn't have that feature. So I ordered an Eva-Dry E-333 reusable dehumidifier for $20 to reduce the humidity inside. If I had more confidence in the waterproofing, I would have given this safe a much higher rating. Finally, be very careful registering your safe online. It might sound like a good idea to give them your name, address, factory combination (that you cannot change), and emergency key number, but how well do they protect their web data? Seems like it could be a literal treasure chest for a hacker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent with enough room for items that are larger Wanted a bigger safe to hold silver, etc. This does it, and you still have room for legal papers, passports, and other stuff. Easy to open and close. Well made strong box and too heavy for anyone to pick up and walk away with. Has emergency keys if the electronic combination unit should fail.
