CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't do it... I bought this safe in 2008 to store some important documents, a few keepsakes and a very small amount of cash. It started acting up within one year. The actuators stopped working properly so I looked up online what to do and I had to whack it with a hunting boot to get it to open. Then that trick stopped working. I wound up having to break into my own safe with a crow bar and throw this thing out. Absolutely terrible product. Research on Google about this safe before you make a huge mistake. Get a mechanical one. June 22, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by The key lock failed, good thing I could break the plastic lock housing with a hammer! The electrical key pad would some times not shut off, and would run down the batteries. It needs a low battery indicator, so you would understand that even though you hear the beeping of the buttons, it will not open. The handle that pulled backed the bolts seemed spongy and i was always afraid that i could just brake it off. When it was locked it could be turned with a small amount of resistance. Sometime with a low battery, the lock showed the “unlocked icon” but not have enough power to disengage the handle. So you turn the handle expecting it to open when indeed it was just that spongy feeling in the handle. We used the safe once a week, for a small church, for about three years until the key pad started acting flaky. THERE IS NO RECOURSE IF THE ELECTRONIC KEY PAD FAILS TO OPEN THE SAFE. I tried to unlock it with the key, but that key only locked the handle to a plastic housing. It will not open the safe if the electronic lock fails. We never used the key, by this time the key would not work and as I tried to push the key in the lock it engaged the key lock, locking the handle to the plastic housing. I know what you are thinking, yes it was the right key and yes it worked when we bought the safe. A hammer quickly defeated the key lock. Over all I was surprise it lasted three years. Or you could think about it like this, only 150 cycles, if used everyday it would last only six months January 11, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Sentry doesn't cut it Don't bother with this safe. Unreliable lock mechanism. Took an hour to get my stuff out with a pry bar and a hammer. Mishap happened after warranty. Nice moneymaker for SentrySafe. Don't make a mistake with this product. March 3, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst safe on the market. Opens with a hammer and screwdriver I had one of these and i really wish i researched it before buying. The safe wouldn't open at one point. The company told me to hit it certain way with a hammer on its side, to rattle the locking pin and it would open. This did not work. I went online and found 10's of 1,000's of people with same problem. I had to call a safe opener, to come to my house and he opened it by simply knocking out the outer hinge and pins from the front of the safe with a hammer and a screwdriver. its not filled with any plating, you can drill through ANY part of the safe because its jacket is filled with.... filler. Bit of sheet-rock type material. Yes its sturdy but its not safe. Even after calling the company and telling them that it failed, they wanted me to pay for a new one and i had to already foot the bill for the "safe guy" This is by far the worst thing i purchased for both our home and office. When this happened at home. I sold the one from my house. If you can pick up the safe as one person, its not worth it. Do yourself a favor and buy and old school safe that's heavy from say a closed bank. August 12, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by difficulty opening. It would not open when delivered. We were told to buy new batteries. after about 45 minutes, the customer service rep told us to get a rubber mallet to hit . they said sometimes the safes get stuck during shipment. it finally opened. However, about 7 days later it woud NOT open again. the next day opened without problem. but two days later..same problem. Its too big to pick up and put in car and return to the store? Personally, would not buy a digital lock again. too inconsistant. and when it doesnt open, you are just stuck. Customer Service is very nice and helpful. But I don't want to call Customer Service on a regular basis to access our safe. also, the sliding file drawer takes up space if you do not intend to use hanging files. August 24, 2011
