Customer Questions & Answers

can it be used on pvc pipe

can it be used on pvc pipe
Asked by: JAT
Hi JAT. The SharkBite Brass Push-to-Connect Ball Valve can be used on CPVC pipe. This type of special PVC pipe is designated for use in hot and cold water pipes, as well as industrial liquid handling while regular PVC pipe which is a thermoplastic polymer used is many other water applications. http://www.homedepot.com/s/CPVC%2520pipe?NCNI-5 The main difference between the PVC & the CPVC is the use in higher temperatures. The CPVC can handle temperatures up to 200 F. The regular PVC pipe can only handle temperatures up to 140 F. CPVC is stronger, more corrosion resistant, and more flexible than PVC. Use your SharkBite Brass Push-to-Connect Ball Valve on the CPVC pipe and you will be fine. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC
