Customer Questions & Answers

Will this valve rattle as water passes through. Having trouble finding a quiet check valve

Asked by: Gmantwo
It shouldn't unless you have an issue with water hammer. If so, we do offer a SharkBIte in line tee with a water hammer arrestor in it. If you have any further questions, please contact our Customer Service M-F, 8am-5pm at (877) 700-4242

I use convection in my hot water recirculation system, will this open?

I do not use a pump, I use convection (gravity) to move water throughout my Domestic Hot Water Recirculation system. Will that be enough to pass through this valve in the direction it is supposed to flow?
Asked by: instantHotWater
The check valve requires 2 PSI to open it, as long as your recirc system is creating 2 PSI that will be enough to pass through the valve. Thank you for your interest in our products!

Is this a "High By-Pass" check valve?

I am concerned with line loss considering the number of PEX style (internal barb) fittings currently installed in my 1/2" water main service line. Are there design specifications available regarding friction loss or "line loss"? Is there a cross section diagram available for this valve? Regarding line loss, can a comparison be made relative to a PEX style (internal barb) fitting?
Asked by: Scott
This is a Push-to-Connect Check Valve.

It is installed between two ball valves so that I can isolate it for replacement - which I have had to do on a regular basis. They have lasted as long as two years, or failed (open) in as little as 4 months. The ease of replacement is a definite plus, the ease of warranty replacement is a little different, I keep a spare, and then return the failed unit to HD.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from completed my hot water recirculation loop I installed a hot water recirculation loop in my house that only uses the inline pump to prime the system with hot water several times a day and then shut off. The pump does not have a check valve; so I added this part to solve the problem of cold water running backward through the loop when the pump is not running and the hot water is running. Problem easily solved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Easy What a wonderful product. I'm sure happy for great minds and the easy technology they come up with. I just cut the PEX water line and slipped the check valve in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SharkBite and PEX rock. The valve works as advertised. Also, it's a no-lead version, though I don't know where the "leaded" version might have lead. SharkBite fittings cut down 2 hours of work to 30 minutes, including supports. Make sure you cut the PEX squarely for best perfomance with SharkBite fittings. A PEX cutter is a worthwhile investment if you'll be doing a lot of PEX work. Get a disconnect tool, too. If for some reason you ever want to modify the layout, you'll need it to reuse the fittings.
