Product Overview

The SharkBite 1/2 in. Push-Fit x 3/8 in. O.D. Compression Straight Stop Quarter Turn Valve controls water flow to household plumbing fixtures. The Angle Stop Valve is used where the water pipe enters the room to allow for easy shut-off of water flow to the end fixture allowing for maintenance and repair without having to turn water off to the entire home. The SharkBite push-fit end allows you to simply push on to Copper, CPVC or PEX with no solder, clamps, unions or glue. Just insert the pipe and the stainless steel teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect seal. Disassembly is just as fast using the simple disconnect tool so fittings and valves can be easily changed and reused. They can even be rotated after assembly for easier installation in tight spaces.

Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be used to slow down the water pressure or is it only off and on?

Its runs off a ice maker water filter to a kcup coffee reservoir tank. If I lower the pressure before the ice maker, the ice maker fills to slow. So, I need something to control pressure after the ice make between the two connections. Or the coffee reservoir fills to fast and splashes the lid off!

I see that the maximum temp. for this product is 200F; what is the minimum temp?

It is not recommended for the valve to be exposed to temperatures below 32 deg F which could cause freezing in the pipes and lead to a failure. Thank you!

Can this be used in a crawl space under a Roman Tub? Or should I use a ball valve?

Asked by: JP
SharkBite push-fit fittings are certified for underground applications. Fittings should be wrapped with an impervious material, chloride-free tape or tightly wrapped and sealed insulation works well to prevent direct contact with the backfill. Backfill should be free of rocks, debris or any sharp objects that may cause damage through impact or abrasion. As with any plumbing project, consult with local plumbing codes for specific applications. SharkBite fittings meet all UPC, IPC and cUPC requirements. SharkBite (Cash Acme of Alabama) is the top manufacturer, the absolute best. Solid, rugged fixture, it all fits well, looks good, performs well. Plumbed in 2 commodes supply lines and a kitchen sink dishwasher. Did a shower valve a few years back: what would have needed 11 or 12 solder joints in a tight wall was done with a few SharkBite fittings and flex, braided hose in just a few minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sooo easy and awesome! We have cpvc water supply lines. Had to replace the shut-off valve to the toilet because it was hissing. Originally, the shut-off valve was a compression solder weld with a multiturn handle. I wanted a 1/4 turn. The Sharkbite was so easy to install. I used a circular copper pipe cutter to cut the cpvc just below the weld and pushed the SharkBite on until it clicked and couldn't go any further. Not a drop of water leaks and it took me a total of 5 minutes...the longest part being cutting the cpvc pipe!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievably Good I have worked with all known types of plumbing for forty years (brass, copper, steel, ceramic, rubber, glass, miniature, PVC, medical equipment, housing, ranch, irrigation, etc., etc.) except PEX pipe. I had no faith whatsoever that a simple replacement of a PEX valve in a manufactured house would be a quick drip-free job. Wow was I wrong! The Sharkbite valve slid on easily, and surprisingly enough the seals actually work. I installed three valves in a bathroom over a month ago, and all three have worked perfectly. I am so pleased with Sharkbite that I now think that for my next re-plumbing of a house I might choose PEX and Sharkbite valves. No glue, no Teflon, no goop, no heat, no solder, no wrenches, no strain, just cut the pipe and slide the valves on; unbelievably easy. Sharkbite saved me days of re-plumbing, and I'd give it one-hundred stars if I could.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple but effective I had to replace a 10 year old shut-off valve. Because my house has pex tubing, I didn't want to spend the $$$ for tools (the most expensive part of the repair). Did some research on Shark Bite products; bought the valve, the removal tool, and a cutting tool (to cut the pex pipe). Installation was so simple. Done in under 1 minute! Tried the removal tool; works as described. No issues installing or removing the valve. I recommend this valve to anyone that needs a quick-fix plumbing repair. The valve is about 3 times more expensive than a simple valve, but then you need the removal and installation tools for pex tubing.
