Product Overview

The SharkBite 1/2 in. Push-Fit x 3/8 in. O.D. Compression Straight Stop Quarter Turn Valve controls water flow to household plumbing fixtures. The Angle Stop Valve is used where the water pipe enters the room to allow for easy shut-off of water flow to the end fixture allowing for maintenance and repair without having to turn water off to the entire home. The SharkBite push-fit end allows you to simply push on to Copper, CPVC or PEX with no solder, clamps, unions or glue. Just insert the pipe and the stainless steel teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect seal. Disassembly is just as fast using the simple disconnect tool so fittings and valves can be easily changed and reused. They can even be rotated after assembly for easier installation in tight spaces.

Can this be used to slow down the water pressure or is it only off and on?

Its runs off a ice maker water filter to a kcup coffee reservoir tank. If I lower the pressure before the ice maker, the ice maker fills to slow. So, I need something to control pressure after the ice make between the two connections. Or the coffee reservoir fills to fast and splashes the lid off!

Answer:
The main use of this valve is to open and close the valve completely. I believe you will accomplish the lowered pressure desired by turn the handle partially.

Answer:
The problem is not water pressure, it is volume of water being passed. This valve will control the volume but may not last very long when it is partially closed. A better solution would be a needle valve.

Answer:
It is not recommended for the valve to be exposed to temperatures below 32 deg F which could cause freezing in the pipes and lead to a failure. Thank you!

Answer:
I don't think there IS a minimum temp. I mean the valve would work right up until the water in the pipes froze!!!!

Answer:
Not directly. You would need to use our 1/2" Polybutylene adapter coupling first and covert to PEX pipe. Then you could use the valve on the PEX pipe. If you have any further questions, please contact our Customer Service, M-F, 8am-5pm at (877) 700-4242.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievably Good I have worked with all known types of plumbing for forty years (brass, copper, steel, ceramic, rubber, glass, miniature, PVC, medical equipment, housing, ranch, irrigation, etc., etc.) except PEX pipe. I had no faith whatsoever that a simple replacement of a PEX valve in a manufactured house would be a quick drip-free job. Wow was I wrong! The Sharkbite valve slid on easily, and surprisingly enough the seals actually work. I installed three valves in a bathroom over a month ago, and all three have worked perfectly. I am so pleased with Sharkbite that I now think that for my next re-plumbing of a house I might choose PEX and Sharkbite valves. No glue, no Teflon, no goop, no heat, no solder, no wrenches, no strain, just cut the pipe and slide the valves on; unbelievably easy. Sharkbite saved me days of re-plumbing, and I'd give it one-hundred stars if I could.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm Sold! So I was in the process of installing a new faucet in an 85-year-old house and realized that there were NO shut-off valves anywhere to the copper water pipes leading upstairs, save for the main house shut-off. I'm not a plumber by any stretch, and when the guy at Home Depot suggested Shark Bites, I was a bit skeptical. But I have to rave-- these things work like a charm!! Simply cut the pipe (leave at least 1.5" for the Shark Bite to slide over), hit the pipe with an emory cloth 'til it's shiny and burr-free, slip on the Shark Bite and you're done! Amazing! And it doesn't leak a drop!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I recently upgraded my kitchen faucet and in doing so realized the old valve needed an upgrade too. This thing works great! I simply cut the pipe, slid this thing on and connected the new water line. Very easy to install! If you are cutting the pipe make sure you have atleast an 1" to work with as this valve needs about that much to work correctly. I definitely recommend the sharkbite and will be using these for more valve replacements in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use stop valve The 1/2in. Push-Fit x 3/8in. OD Compression Quarter-Turn Straight Stop Valve is the prefect valve for installing in a bathroom under the sink, the toilet, under the kitchen sink, or any where you need the shut-off valve. This valve is easy to turn making it nice for the older homeowners. The valve has a nice finish on it so if it is out in the open you don't have to be concerned.
