Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ToddB One handed action even when fitting is completely installed
I had worked with Sharkbite fittings on a number of occasions around my home in the past few years, but I was unaware that this tool existed. Maybe it’s new or maybe I just didn’t know. I think I’m a perfect candidate to review it considering I did without for so long and can truly compare.
I do find myself removing these fittings on occasion for two reasons: 1. I screwed up and need to adjust something, like by adjusting the run of the pex. 2. I rework that section of plumbing. These fittings are reusable so once I buy a fitting it’s “in inventory” so to speak. I’m always adjusting my plumbing as I make improvements to my VERY old home in stages.
Sometimes a fitting comes apart without much effort using the tool that comes for free with many of the fittings. I have a few of them in ¾” and ½”. Sometimes, however, I have fought with the process for a couple of minutes. The issue is that you need be able to squeeze and this is often difficult to do with your hands, when the fitting is already installed. This tool allows you to squeeze with one hand. It really does make the process a no-brainer and releases the fitting in a matter of seconds. I had one fitting that was a little sticky and all I needed to do was apply the tool, squeeze and then rotate it a little and squeeze again. The fitting came right off. Maybe ten seconds?
Verdict – if you work with Sharkbite once in a while and have every removed a fitting, I absolutely recommend the tool. If I were a plumber I’d wish for a heavier duty version just because I like nice tools, but this is exactly adequate for the job and won’t break. I just looked up the ¾” version on the HD site and it’s $8! That’s 25% of what it’s selling for on another major site right now. I’m at HD quite often and will grab the ¾” version on my next trip to add to my plumbing box.
Please see the attached photos for an example of the two techniques.

This tool is amazingly strong. Sure, it is meant to be a disconnect tool for SharkBite fittings, and this task can easily be accomplished by cheap plastic disconnect tools. For a pro on the job, this is the grade of quality you want from a tool that will last a long time.
As far as the functionality goes, it does what is supposed to do. The mouth for the tongs fits around tubing correctly. The tool is made from very thick quality steel, and it would take quite a direct beating, like, smashing it with a hammer, to keep this tool from functioning. This thing could get dropped from several stories and used as a small pry bar and would still work as needed.
A great build for anyone that deals with SharkBite fittings.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anthony One Word: GREAT!
First off, these seem a tad pricey for being such a simple tool, but after using them, I would absolutely pay the $25 for them! I do not do much plumbing, but am glad that I have this tool now. They make removing the sharkbite fittings so simple. The little plastic disconnect clip can get frustrating & painful. This tool does neither.
At first glance I thought they would be very flimsy and only be slightly better than the disconnect clip. Wrong! They are solid & do not flex when you squeeze them. One side of the tongs applies pressure to the disconnect ring thing, the other tong provides counter-pressure on the opposite side of the flange. It takes very little effort to use. My 8 year old daughter used them with no problem.
This is one of those tools that I may not use often, but when I need it I absolutely prefer it over the other available options. I love this thing!

If you are looking for a well made durable tool to remove shark bite fitting with ease, look no more. This tool is heavy duty and made to be passed down to the next generation. Easily works in tight areas. This is a one handed tool, allowing you to use your free hand to pull the pipe apart. This tool is a must-have for all professional plumbers and serious DYI'ers. A little on the pricier side, but like good labor, well-made tools cost a little more.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Texas Makes light work of removing quick connect fittings
The tools is supplied without any instructions, which may be confusing for first time users.
The tool itself has two groves cut in to it, the smaller grove goes around the pex pipe, and the larger grove around the brass fitting. When you squeeze the tool it pushes the quick connect release sleeve to enable you to remove the pipe. The video I uploaded shows how easy this is to use.

This is one of those things that you think, why didn't I think of that. This tool is great for taking shark fittings off pipe, pex, or anything you put it on. Fits in the tool belt nicely and to use it just put it on the fitting and squeeze. That's all there is to it. It unlocks the fitting with no problem. Simple. Do not exert to much force on the tongs as the forks will bend, but that's a lot of force, It is well made to do the job without forcing it. You might need to tap the bite fitting to loosen it so the tool works. I haven't had that problem and I have removed about 50 fittings. Saved me a bunch of money on fittings.

Sharkbite Disconnect Tongs
This is a very good tool. If you ever have to take apart a Sharkbite connector this tool would be very helpful. If you have room to get both hands into wherever you are working and can pull both directions then the normal little disconnect tool will work fine and is much less expensive but if you have limited room for you hands this tool is very nice. When you have the Sharkbite connector squeezed with this tool it will also be holding the plumbing steady so you can pull the pipe out of the connector. These tools come in different sizes, you need the 1/2 inch tool for 1/2 inch connectors and you need the 3/4 inch tool for 3/4 inch connectors. If you need more than one size it is going to get expensive. The tools are color coded. Very good tool but expensive.
Tools works well
Holds plumbing steady
Works in limited space
Need separate tool for each size
