Answer:
It's a slip fit. Just push the tubing into the fitting. Be aware though, that a 1/2" SharkBite fitting requires 5/8" tubing.

I've read some reviews elsewhere that the internal rubber hose will disintegrate especially on the hot water side. It may take only 6 mos to a year depending on your water conditions. Has this been corrected?

Answer:
If the water quality is poor in your area it can cause any rubber to corrode, we manufacture with the highest quality EPDM Rubbers, but if water quality is a concern in your area we offer a Stainless Steel Corrugated version in-store and online of the same hose that has no liner and may work better for your application.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hot Water Heater supply connectors - Don't Buy! Unfortunately, the chlorine in your water will deteriorate the rubber lining inside the flex hoses after a year or two. Within two years, I had rubber flecks inside a new hot water tank and coming out my bath tub faucet. These cause a problem in plugging up faucet aerators and washing machine supply valves... we had to have a new supply valve installed in our washing machine. I replaced the flex hoses with copper pipe and the problem went away. This has happened to quite a few others...just do an internet search. SharkBite should take this type off the market! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by easy fix This item makes instillation very simple. It is a great idea instead of having to get a plumber April 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good product - Incorrectly named I'm sure it works well. People are really happy with it. However, it's 1/2" pipe-side, 3/4" screw-side... I need 1/2" for my Tankless heater. NOWHERE does it say this in any part of the description - yet it does say several times "Connector 1/2". So this is a negative review against HD for not having correct information on the website! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good buy would like the hose part to be a little more flexible without kinking September 11, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by black pieces flow out of hot water my bath tab hot water comes with black rubber pieces, and after long time diagnosis, the only possible explanation is that the black rubber pieces come from the Shark bite water heater connector January 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best plumbing product I've used... Had to change out a water heater this weekend and of course, none of the water connections lined up. I didn't really have time to rebuild all the copper and sweat all those connections so I thought I would give these a try, simplest, most effective product I've used on a plumbing project... test fit, cut pipe, sanded burrs and slipped right into place. No leaks... amazing!! October 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Water Heater Replacement Shark Bite makes plumbing easy. I only had to sweat one joint and would not have had to do that, if 24" SharkBites had been available. Great product. June 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy install, no leaks, quality product !! I used 2 11'' flex hoses and a in line ball valve on my new hot water tank install and it made what might have been a tough job very easy August 20, 2015
