Product Overview

The 1/2 in. x 18 in. SharkBite Water Heater Connector with Integrated Ball Valve allows you to easily connect your Hot and Cold Water Supply lines to your Water Heater. After applying pipe thread tape to the MIP nipples on your water heater, thread the FIP end of the Water Heater connector onto the tank and tighten with channel locks. Then simply push the SharkBite Push-Fit end onto Copper, PEX, or CPVC pipes and your Water Heater is connected. The Integrated Ball Valve on the SharkBite Water Heater Connector provides a quarter-turn, single handle shut-off to the water supply. The braided stainless steel lines are available in different lengths from 12 in. - 24 in. (without Ball Valve) and are also available in Corrugated Stainless Steel. Yes. The water tank will have 2- 3/4" fittings on it. House pipes can vary.

what size is the flexible hose 1/2 or 3/4

Asked by: plumber2
Both. You can get whatever combination you need as well as Sharkbite fittings to adapt to odd angles. Note in my pic the left side hose where I needed to use a 90 degree elbow to make it work perfectly. This was a 3/4 to 1/2 adaption.

I was a bit skeptical as every fitting I ever executed was sweated. The thing worked as advertised. You cut the pipe square, debur with sandpaper and push...it all there is to it! The water heater replacement with these connections took just minutes over an hour...on New Year Day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ease of Install Can't be easier. No leaks, easy cuts on established piping's. Think there should be a 24" shutoff too. Measure the "from to the to" first. Buy the tool to disconnect. Clean the copper existing piping prior to attaching Again, I just installed. So to see if the flexible connectors have a 'lifetime", I'll have to get back to you.

I, unfortunately, did not end up using this hose due to, of all things, the valve. My water heater was on a reinforced shelf in the garage and the copper pipes were not well placed to make an even transition so the Sharkbite hose needed to be in a loop for the supply side. With the valve on the end it greatly limited the bend I could put on the hose without kinking it, so I returned it and got the Sharkbite hose w/o the valve and it worked out great. I needed to step the connection down to 1/2" for this one so I used a valve-less hose as well with a Sharkbite 90 degree elbow and that worked out even better as there was no loop to make. Overall, I was stunned at how easy this install became using this hose system. Note: You really need to buy the Sharkbite pipe end tool. It looks like a pan flute with all the pipe sizes it supports for cleaning, and most importantly, allowing you to mark the needed depth of the connection onto the copper pipe. Too shallow and it will not stay on. All you do is push and turn on the copper pipe using the correct size opening to prep the pipe and then, without withdrawing the tool, mark a line on the pipe with it firmly in the tool. This is the depth that the fitting needs to be pushed on to the copper to have the proper 'bite' on the pipe! I'll post a pick of my completed project here. I have another size hose to review here so I'll be using this review and will adjust that one for size but mainly it will be the same review. I would definitely use these hoses again for other projects around the house. One last thing I forgot. Buy the small horseshoe shaped removal tool for the size connections you'll be making!!!!! If you make a mistake these will allow you to undo the connection without damaging the fitting. Small cost with a great 'just in case' value!
