It has a rubber gasket in it, so that seems to imply a parallel thread... but I believe most water heater connector nipples are a tapered thread. Please clarify?

Thanks!

if your expansion tank, water filter, and bypass connection are 3/4" MPNT this connection hose will work for you. These hoses are rated for 200 psi and 200 degrees F.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 198 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Top 10 Connections The product was a shark bite. Easy to install, quality material and the price didn't put us in the poor house. Thanks, HD for all you do for us. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great new product! A friend recommended these connectors for use with new water heater installation. They bolted right on to water heater. Other end was pushed onto existing 3/4 inch CPVC water pipes. That's it! No leaks or drips. Very simple. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy hookup! Once I established the spacing from the water heater to the plumbing, it was simple to connect the two together. In the future, a new appliance will be easy to install, compared to the unsoldering or trying to break apart reluctant unions to swap in a new device! June 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick and Easy Recently replaced my hot water heater and used these to connect hot/cold lines. SharkBite push fit connectors are quick and easy. No leaks, no worries. April 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by You need this for the new gas water heaters. If you have a gas water heater, you are in for a surprise when you go to replace it. The new standards have changed the size enough that the old connections are not going to fit. The new designs are taller, and bigger around then the old ones. Because I don't like messing with gas lines, and because the water lines were too long anyway, I moved the hater a bit so the gas line fit. Then I cut the water lines back, and used 2 of these. Installation went easy. Because they are flexible, I didn't need to line things up. With the "Push-to-Connect" connector, I didn't need to solder anything. Talk about easy. And they are even rated as a dielectric connection. November 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wish my house had started with these. When my water heater broke so did everything else associated with it. With almost no prior plumbing experience I headed down to my local store for help with the project. The sharkbite connectors and hoses the plumbing expert suggested were worth every penny making my job easier and more secure. I'm not worried about my welds and I know that these will last for a long while and when it comes time to replace them the job will be quick and painless. I will use these with confidence for every future project I can. March 18, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Long term review - warning!! Do NOT use for hot water I installed two of these water lines from my hot water tank to the water supply and hot water out lines in 2010. After several months I noticed a black greasy/rubber debris coming from the hot water from the faucets. This got so bad in the master tub that we stopped using it. The tub would fill with black residue. If you touch it, it will smear and become difficult to remove. The black residue could also be found in the screens of every faucet. This has been driving me and my wife crazy for almost 4 years. After some recent google searches, I found the source to potentially be the Shark Bite hot water line. Sure enough, after replacing the Shark Bite water lines, the black debris is GONE. A significant amount of black residue came out of the Shark Bite water line that come from the hot water side of the hot water tank. To confirm the black residue came for the water line, I placed a screw driver inside and scraped the inner wall. The same black residue could be torn from the inner walls. When I went to Home Depot to get replacement water lines, the department rep said that I was not the first person to make this claim. The water line within the braided stainless steel is a black rubber instead of the typical white plastic that every other manufacture uses. Unless you can confirm this product has been redesigned, DO NOT USE it for the hot water supply line from your hot water tank. I wish I would have taken more photos, but see the attached photo of the black residue that spilled onto the top of the hot water tank when I removed the Shark Bite water line. One final disclaimer, this only applies to Shark Bite water lines, not fittings. I have several fittings throughout my home that have no problems. August 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic new product I was dreading having to hire a plumber ($200 - $300 min) to install a brand new water heater just because I didn't know how to solder properly copper pipe but when I learned about this type of products (ie SharkBite) I was convinced that was the way to go... easy to install and just the right solution for me.
