It has a rubber gasket in it, so that seems to imply a parallel thread... but I believe most water heater connector nipples are a tapered thread. Please clarify?

Thanks!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Time Saver, Great Quality!!! Very pleased with this connector, it is of a great quality and is super easy to use. Saves a lot of time when connecting your new water heater to existing pipes since it's a push-to-connect and requires no glue or any additional connectors. Will buy again for future projects. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by rubber liner deteriorates In 2011 I installed these braided flex connectors from sharkbite; it was an easy install no leaks I was very happy, but after 2 years my faucets strainers were being clogged with small fragments of black rubber. I finally found the water heater was loaded with the rubber and found the rubber liner in the sharkbite flex line was deteriorating. I called Sharkbite and they said they changed the liners and if I bought new lines manufactured after 2011 that they would have the new liners. That was late 2013 or early 2014 and now here it is 2016 and the lines have deteriorated again. I don't recommend these and will not be suckered into them again. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shark Bite One of the easiest plumbing jobs I have completed Replacing my water heater and using the shark bite connectors to replace the standard soldiered connection Great product July 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far , So good. Installation was amazingly easy. I was really happy with how easy it was, with no leaks. But now after I installed my new water heater using these, I see others reviews that say the rubber linings of these connectors can break down after as little as 6 months sending bits of black rubber through your plumbing system. I will be keeping an eye on this and if it happens Sharkbite and Home Depot will have one very unhappy customer! July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A must have for DIY This hose is a must have item for installing a new Hot Water Heater. This hose cuts down on cost of soldiering copper fittings and the time it takes to cut and fit new copper fittings. This hose allows for some variation in lineup of copper tubing and make the job easier when the new heater holes don't line up to existing lines. July 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy Install! No Leaks. Works Great! 3/4 IN. PUSH-TO-CONNECT X 3/4 IN. FIP X 18 IN. BRAIDED STAINLESS STEEL WATER HEATER CONNECTOR. Easy Install and easy to replace tank again at a later date! I also smeared grease on the outside of the fittings after install to prevent corrosion in the future. January 5, 2016
