will this tool crimp polybutylene pipe

will this tool crimp polybutylene pipe
Asked by: milford
If you are replacing a section of PB pipe with pex you can get a Shark Bite PB to Pex crimp fitting--I have used this crimp fitting (3/4") and this tool myself for this purpose with success. Also you can get PB pipe to Pex Shark Bite fittings to make the transition.

Does this come in a hard case?

Asked by: dd
No, it comes with a small plastic box around the end of the tool with the handles exposed. Inside the plastic box are the additional heads and go/no-go tool.

Can i join PEX and galvanized plumbing?

My house has newer galvanized plumbing and older galvanized plumbing. I only want to replace the old plumbing lines. The newer galvanized is harder to get to and has been remodeled over.
Asked by: Silverfox
Yes you can, you would need to use the proper adapting fitting. For example if it were 1/2" galvanized I would take off a fitting with a 10"--14" pipe wrench, (you may need to even use a 18" wrench, depending on how much force it will take.) spray with penetrating oil then put on a 1/2" female by pex adapter, or a 1/2" male by pex adapter if you are going into a fitting. you would use what ever size as the pipe that you are connecting to ex. 1/2", 3/4", 1", etc.. I hope this helps. ALL--PHASE

Multi-Head PEX Copper Crimp Ring Tool Kit is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to work in tight spots I bought this tool to repipe my house from copper to PEX. The handles have to open up really wide to get the jaw around the crimp ring. When you're working between floor joists on a vertical pipe it's really hard to be able to crimp because of the wide handle spread that is needed. Other than that problem they work ok..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked Perfectly Worked perfectly. I'm not strong and was able to use this. We reworked kitchen and bath plumbing, adding a dishwasher, with lots of prayer and youtube videos. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great After reading some off the reviews I decided to buy this product. It has in the specifications that it doesn't come with a 1" die. as for the heads coming out it has screws that lock them in place. I haven't had an issue with this product it has performed exactly as designed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product works as advertised Easy to use. Dies are easy to change, but they would sometimes come off the tool and stay on the crimp ring. Easy to remove from ring and reinstall on tool. No leaks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from cannot use it in some instances Tool works as advertised. Bought this since it will crimp 1" fittings. I would recommend the other type crimper that uses the steel crimp rings. It only costs $57 and it can be used in tight areas and also on the new Moen frost free single handle faucets. This one crimper tool will do it all at half the cost

Rated 2 out of 5 by from cost exceeds design Multi-head with set of change out dies great but holding in place over your head while attempting to keep aligned with copper crimp ring while laying on back under house in awkward position is tough. Would suggest the ratchet type. Break over on this tool is tough while attempting to keep copper crimp and tool aligned. Poor instructions. No mention of no die for 1", but utilize tool head without a die to do 1". Kept looking for the missing 1" die. Have come to believe in Sharkbite quality and dependability but this is no wimp tool. Break over is a exercise in determination, tenacity and perseverance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Way too expensive but it works like a charm. This item is a multi-head crimp tool. I only needed the 3/8" one and it wasn't sold. So I had to buy this set. The removal tool doesn't have one for 3/8" though. Go figure. My store unfortunately didn't have the 3/8" one.
