This is great tool to use with SharkBite. If you're even remotely scared that your pipe may cut the O-ring, this thing will quell your concerns. It deburrs copper similar to how a pencil sharpener would sharpen a pencil. If you want to be play it safe with SharkBite, invest in one of these tools.

This makes your life easier when installing pipes. Each socket has at its base a sharp blade which deburrs the end of the pipe with a few twists.
Works with copper and PEX, (probably also PVC but I have not tried that yet)

Purchased my Shark Bites for my kitchen plumbing and went home. I had a couple of questions before I installed so I went back to Home Depot and the plumbing dept. guy ask if I had the Shark Bite Safe Seal Tool. For the money it is a great investment. After I cut my Shark Bite 1/2" plumbing pipe, I lightly twisted the pieces through the Safe Seal Tool and sure enough, it nicely and easily cleaned up the ends of each piece of pipe, plus, you can mark the 1" mark exactly with the tool. Hooked the valves and connectors up with my piece of pipe then slid them right over the old piping, which in my case was polybutylene (old mobile home grey plumbing). If you have the same, make sure to use Shark Bites for polybutylene. Works well! Would not hesitate to use Shark Bites for any future plumbing project.

I have the old poly tubing in my house and this tool works great for cleaning up the edges before installing a Shark Bite T. Highly recommend for any type of tubing. The tool fits several different sizes of tubing or pipe.

It works as described. I used it during my water heater install to take the rough edges off the pex and copper that I was working with.
