Do not use emery cloth or sand paper on the tube as it might leave a scratched surface between the sure grip SB plastics and the actual tube outer lining, which might allow for water pressure drip.
Hope this helps, great luck to you Army. Read Less

Answer:
Army, this tool removes the burr along the outside edge of copper tubing only, does nothing inside the tubing and it also acts as a depth gauge so you know if you have pushed the Sharkbite fitting deep enough into the pipe to properly seal.

I just bought one and it doesn't look like there's anything inside each tube that would deburr the OD. Is it tiny or hidden? Seems like a waste of money.

Answer:
The small black disc is what actual deburrs the copper. When you place the pipe inside and give it a full turn, the disc cuts the burrs off the copper.

Answer:
Hello TL:
Your question is a bit vague but essentially you put the pipe into the deburring tool and mark it there at the point it is exposed. So If I get your question right, the answer is no, the tool does not mark it for you, you must mark it yourself if it is important for you to do so.
I hope this helped!

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shark Bite Tool This tool is great and is very affordable. Been working with shark bite fittings for a while and it helps you to not second guess yourself when you push the shark bite fitting on, weather it is all the way on or not. This tool once you deburr the tubing & put a mark on the tubing. Using this tool as your guide with it still on the tubing, put a mark where the top of the tool ends on the tubing. You then take the shark bite fitting pop it on, you will then see that the fitting will stop where that mark is. Now you have a true fit no second guessing. Doug September 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes life easier Used on Pex pipe to copper tubiing to remove sharp outer edge and chamfer the edge of copper tubing in preparation to install push in Sharkbite fitting as well as a depth gauge to make sure the push in Sharkbite fittings were installed to the correct depth. Made the job easier and I found one of copper tubing's were concentric when the Sharkbite connector would not slide all the way to the mark. September 1, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Save your money I have done pluming repairs for a very long time. Thought I would try it while I was replacing my water heater. Doesn't clean the outside of the pipe and doesn't deburr the inside or outside of the pipe. Use a pocket knife and a piece of sandpaper and save your money. Very dissatisfied. May 31, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst excuse for a tool ever. The tool is almost worthless! It does not deburr well, and in fact left chatter marks that were worse than before deburring. The tool does not do any deburring on the ID either. The depth gauge could be useful. but I found it simpler to use a tape measure. My use was on 1" copper pipe, and perhaps others have had better experience with smaller diameters, but my results were very poor. May 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by makes life simple This makes your life easier when installing pipes. Each socket has at its base a sharp blade which deburrs the end of the pipe with a few twists. Works with copper and PEX, (probably also PVC but I have not tried that yet) February 1, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk Doesn't deburr at all , in fact it creates more burrs then a fresh cut with a tubing cutter just use a file . February 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Don't install pex without this If your planning to run pex make sure you use this tool without it your more likely to cut your pipe to short or get a leak . It's straight forward and shouldn't be overlooked February 18, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok at Best As a deburring tool, it sucks. It leaves a rough edge that can damage the plastic collar on the fitting. Do yourself a favor and if you don't have a quality deburring tool, a light touch with a file if necessary, and some 80 grit paper will give you a smooth edge. As a depth gauge, it's fine.
