Answer:
Thunder,
If you mount it as directed it doesn't matter where it vents. Look at the unit and you should see the vents; they are unique to each manufacturer and located in different areas. They are very easy to mount and it doesn't take long if you have a hand. I hope I've cleared things up. :o)

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 74 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great microwave Love this microwave. It fit into the cabinet perfectly. I like that the cord comes out of the top so that the micro fits snugly against the back wall and doesn't stick out of the cabinet front. May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful, fits a great niche market. Works perfect for the basement bar/mini kitchen that I have. Finding a 24" microwave was quite difficult, and this fits the bill. Installation is a bit more complicated based on others I've installed, but not terribly so. February 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sharp Registration Process Is exactly what we wanted to complete of renovation. Perfect power is much better than our previous above range unit.---------Bought the Model R-1214 above counter microwave oven and am very pleased with. It arrived on time and in good condition. However, when trying to complete warranty card on line at the Sharp website. It required many questions that were unnecessary. Additionally, the site would not allow you to register unless you joined their website and created a password. Have had many Sharp products over the years but with the grilling Sharp puts you through trying to register I will seek other manufacturers in the future July 28, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement of Previously purchased Sharp microwave We purchased the first Sharp microwave in late 20 12, same model. It last 2.75 years, not very long for a Sharp microwave. Because it is a build-in, we had no choice but to order the same model when the touch panel (located on the door) stopped working. The reason for the panel failure was the wire from the panel to the oven runs from the door to the oven. The wire wore out from opening a closing the door. This is a major design flaw by Sharp. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! This microwave was exactly what I wanted. Tired of the over the range microwave, this one fits nicely under my cabinet and now I can have a hood over the range. Added trim and light rail and the microwave looks built-in. Its size is smaller, but has plenty of room inside for whatever I intend to microwave. October 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Microwave Great Microwave. It appears complicated but is very user friendly. It seemed a little expensive but I now believe the price meets the quality. September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great fit and product Said it needed a 24" opening and it fit perfectly. Previously bought a 24" microwave and it needed almost 25" which wouldn't fit. Matches my other stainless appliances. A little heavy to try to mount by yourself. September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Small micro Love it u can't find small micro any more. Put under stove n had to build a small wine box beside opening since there was a gap under cabinet. Looks awesome! July 21, 2015
