Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A very satisfied customer The air conditioner look, quality & performance was what I expected. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overpowering the bad windows in my 450sqf apartment in SC I really enjoy blasting this beast. I replaced an old 8000btu unit that blew air like your grandmother blows at birthday candles. Cold-ish and like it was about to die. With the new unit it cranks out cold air and cools our apartment despite being in a top floor apartment in southern California. My only problem was that it says the height of the unit is 14" and it's really closer to 14.5". That was my mistake because minimum hole size is supposed to be 15.5 because it's a window unit. I was putting it in a window that had a fixed sized hole and -- in A/C unit terms -- that actually means I needed a wall unit. I was able to make the hole large enough to fit the unit in but it would have been smarter to install a wall unit because the outer shell of those A/C units are designed to be pulled off and screwed in. Once that's installed you slide the inner components back into the shell. On a window unit the shell just connects to the bottom and isn't designed to be screwed in. Mounting of a window unit is done with external brackets that aren't as clean looking as simply screwing the shell to the framing around the hole. Also, by mounting the shell first, that keeps you from having to try to slide a heavy unit into a hole that might not be big enough. I ended up doing it the hard way and almost dropped the unit. Worse, I almost hurt my back too because this thing is a beast to lift. I could have saved myself a lot of effort and work, had I simply bought the right product. Either way, I'm happy, but I learned a valuable lesson. May 10, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job As a night shift worker who lives in an upper-level duplex, I really needed an a/c unit in order to sleep well during the day. I installed it in the dining room, which is just outside my bedroom in my just-under-800-square-foot apartment. On the regular setting, it makes the dining room REALLY cold, while the adjacent rooms stay relatively warm. Using an oscillating fan or two helps to distribute the cool air. I've also found that the "energy saver" setting keeps it from making the dining room quite as cold, so the temperature is more even throughout the apartment, and the unit is not constantly running. Overall it serves its purpose just fine. The installation instructions weren't as clear as they could have been, but between myself and my friend who helped me install the unit we were able to figure it out. July 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great AC!!! I needed a 12,000 BTU AC, that fit in a smaller window & this one did the trick! It cools my upstairs of 600 square feet. HEY VETS, IF YOU SHOW HOME DEPOT, YOU HAVE SERVED, THEY WILL GIVE YOU 10% OF EVERY TIME! June 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This unit leaked inside my wall This unit was installed as a wall unit. Unfortunately the design has a major flaw. There were 3 weep holes near the from of the unit. Condensation leaked out of the holes and down inside my walls. We had to tear out a 4' x 4' area of sheet rock and insulation. The sheet rock was full of green and black mold. It was an absolute nightmare experience. We bought this model Sharp A/C in 2009. I really hope Sharp corrected this problem. August 19, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Quality, Terrible Customer Service The A/C unit arrived with a cracked front panel, damaged and bent side grills and dented top. Sharp would not replace the unit on site and directed me to Home Depot for replacement. I had to buy and pay for another unit and after it arrived I had to drop off the damaged unit at a local store to get the refund for it. I will never buy another Sharp A/C product. August 12, 2013
