We were quite surprised at the quality of this product for the price we paid. Installation was quick and simple. Would have prefered to have directional arrows for the nap but figured out the direction easily enough. Went with the checkerboard effect and it looks great! The only negative was that we were shorted by one tile! Remember to order a little more than you expect to use!

The carpet squares were easy to install, though the backing that covers the adhesive is somewhat hard to remove (my son had to remove them for me).
The quality is Average, I've had an office chair with wheels on the carpet (with no pad, yeah, I know) and the nap has begun to compress and shed a bit (after 4 weeks of use).
The look of the tiles is a bit indoor/outdoor style, not very much padding. However, It really did fix up our basement office room.
The ease of installation and the price and the quality, though, balance out and I think this is a good carpet tile solution for a secondary-type room.

I recently purchased this for our home office. Easy installation, I highly recommend the checkerboard installation method of turning each neighboring tile 90 degrees. This flooring was a marital compromise. I wanted ceramic tile because we have a dog, my husband wanted carpet so it would be a bit warmer on the feet. This works for us both so that if there's an accident with the dog, we can spot clean or replace tiles in a snap. I was skeptical when I bought it, but am surprised at how nice it looks! Just ordered more for a spare bedroom.

We installed the tiles in our basement for a playroom. We used two different color tiles to create a checkerboard pattern. It turned out great! The only hard part about the installation was keeping the nap in the same direction. I had to keep checking to make sure the tiles were all lying the same. Other than that, the backing came off with ease and the glue held to the concrete just fine. I would recommend walking all over the tiles once installed to firmly press the glue down.

We used this when we remodeled our workshop into a media/home theater room. Floor was damaged & too uneven for tile or wood. Install is simple. Just make sure you follow directions to start, centering properly in the middle of the room so it looks right. On the advice from other reviewers, we sprayed adhesive on the back of each square for extra sticking power. I have one more piece of advice: if the floor's damaged (water, mold, pet urine, etc) clean & SEAL the floor first with a quality sealer. We installed Hardiebacker concrete board over the repaired subfloor (required by local code), sealed it with Zinsser BIN & installed carpet. Great results.
This product looks considerably more expensive & stylish than the price & wears well with dogs & kids.
I would use it again.

We installed the tiles in our basement for a playroom. We created a checkerboard pattern with two different colors. It turned out great! The backing came off with no problems and the tile glue stuck to the concrete. The only hard part of the installation was keeping the nap of the tiles in the same direction, other than that it was a breeze.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MarySue Finished product is exactly what I wanted!
I wanted to update a home office in my basement but carpet was just too expensive. I was very excited to see the selection at Home Depot. While I am very pleased with the finished look it was not easy to install. Tearing the protective covering off of the bottom of the tiles was the worst part. There was no easy way to "get it started." In fact, I had no fingernails left at the end of the project. And, you really need a pair of heavy duty scissors to supplement the utility knife when cutting the tiles.

We bought these tiles for two of the bathrooms in our house. We laid them directly on top of the vinyl flooring. Shaw recommends placing the tiles with the lines vertical and the next tile with the lines horizontal. We laid them with the lines all running the same direction. They're easier to vacuum that way. We believe the reason they want them back and forth is because the colors DO NOT MATCH on all the tiles. With them back and forth you won't notice this mismatch as much, but even with it, they do not look very bad. I included a photo so you can see what I mean. They DO STINK though. If you order these and maybe any pre-glued tiles, do yourself a favor and take all of the tiles out of the box and spread them around outside for a couple of hours. Then you'll be good to go. If you lay them directly from the box, the stench is awful. Trying to get the paper off the glue can be a real pain also. Shaw says to peel it off in one quick sweeping motion. That's great advice, if you can get it started. I wish the glue was just a bit tackier. If you need to replace any tiles you shouldn't have a problem because you can just peel the bad tile off the floor and lay a new one. We haven't had a problem yet, but we are a bit concerned with the tackiness holding long term. Maybe we shouldn't be concerned. Only time will tell. Even with the few drawbacks, we would not hesitate to purchase them again.
