I hung the drywall and came back the next day to start the seams. It smells like fish in the room. Should I rip it down and use something else?

Is this normal to have a fishy smell?
Asked by: ppagsus
Must have been the very high humidity that day. Smell is gone for last two weeks.

Is this drywall right for a florida room?

Asked by: Chuck
Hello Chuck, thank you for your recent question regarding our Sheetrock Mold Tough Panels. First off, let me apologize for the delay in our answering your question. Your question was not a yes or no answer and I needed to do some investigating before answering. The room would need a dehumidifier and/or ventilation that keeps the relative humidity below 70%. Note, if temperature drops but the moisture content of the air remains the same (no dehumidification or ventilation) the RH will go up, so dropping the temperature in a sealed room can result in condensation even if it’s perfectly comfortable when it was shut down. High RH is the trigger for trouble. If RH is kept below that limit, Mold Tough is a good choice. If not, you're going to end up with a musty smelling room or worse no matter what wallboard you use.

We would recommend replacing the molded drywall with a Mold Tough version to help combat the mold and mildew.
