does this product have tie downs or a way to anchor it from being blown over?

The kit comes with 4 tie downs, 1 at each corner, but we added 4 more, two on each side.

What is the front 'door' like?

How easy is the front 'door' of this shelter to manipulate? Is it strong and durable? Most importantly - does it keep out rain and snow?
Asked by: Anonymous
The front door has two zippers on either side that did not fail for just over a year. I cannot speak for the snow, but the tent portion of this shelter held up well for a year in the desert sun but then literally fell apart. It did keep the rain out and with good anchors it help up to 50+ MPH wind gusts.

How easy is this to assemble, how many people are needed, how long will it take, and what tools are needed?

Asked by: Anonymous
We had 2 people with occasional help from a 3rd person. You will need a 7/16" or 11mm wrench, a hammer, a drill for holes that are not drilled correctly, a tape measure, that's about it. We worked slowly and completed it in two days, it could be completed in one day if needed.

Customer Reviews

10 ft. x 15 ft. x 8 ft. Sandstone Steel and Polyethylene Garage without Floor is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product My friends put this up, so no personal opinion, although they said it when up ok. Instructions were easy to follow. The stakes are not necessary where I live- no wind, but in windy areas, they would be handy. Two features that need improvement: 1. the two stretchy catches used to hold the rolled up front opening. They are too short- they could be longer to make fastening easier. 2. I bought a dowel from a hardware store to fit into the bottom sleeve of the front opening to aid in rolling it up to fasten. It's heavy and sturdy and seems, so far (2mos.) it will last a good while. Also, one part was missing and had to be sent, which came timely. Other than those 3 things, I'm happy.

Easy to Construct, Looks Good, With Stood Recent Wind Storm with No Issues. This Shelter for a Medium or Large Car is Two Feet too Short and Two Feet too Narrow. Great for Lawnmower, Golf Cart, Compact Car and storage of small items. MAKE SURE YOU ANCHOR IT TO THE GROUND ON ALL FOUR CORNERS FIRMLY. Good Steel Frame. Can be Constructed in 6 or 7 hours with one person on a Calm day. Looks just like the sales picture when completed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from After about 3 weeks, my carport was destroyed in the wind I got the car port in mid July, 2016 and paid a little over $300 for it. It lasted until the first wind storm and the cover blew off as well as parts being lost. Home Depot didn't offer much help and I will now have to pay someone to dismantle the frame. It has been a big disappointment to me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lacking Quality Craftsmanship Although there were only two of us putting the storage shelter together it was very time-consuming. Fortunately all the parts were available In the kit. I could not believe that the manufacturer had simply cut the fabric of the shelter with a knife to make a slit for the side rails, and they did not reinforce the slits with stitching or something. I am still questioning the strength of the material and only time will tell whether it is durable enough to withstand wind and snow. We have been warned that heavy snow will crush the top of the shelter and it will fall onto our camper. The company should use a heavy canvas material for the shelter instead of the plastic currently sold. More anchors should also be included with the kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy This is the second one we purchased. We had a freak storm with cannon ball size hail. Yes, it happened. We found out later, that there was a tornado on our block that caused the hail to be thrown with great velocity. We were in the process of building a garage. For temporary shelter of our new car, we purchased this auto shelter. After the storm stalled for about 20 minutes, there was a lot of damage to homes, all our neighbors vehicles were totalled, everyone's truck and cars windows shattered, rear view mirrors literally beaten off the trucks and cars. When the storm started I looked out and saw the hail bounce of the auto shelter but was so severe the hail started penetrating. I expected the worse. When we when to check we saw 20 slits in the shelter. We walked all around the vehicle. This shelter saved our new car. Rather than patching the slits, we just bought a new one for our side by side. We live in snow country, it survived all the weather conditions including other hail storms. Would highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Product for the Price We bought this to store our motorcycles for the upcoming winter. We previously had a Shelter Logic storage shed that held up well for several years until the Hanukkah Eve storm in 2006 blew it apart. You cannot expect that this will survive hurricane force winds. In comparison, I believe the tarp covering on the previous shelter was of higher quality but the frame work on the new one is higher quality than the older one. Two people put this together with help from a third person on occasion, the assembly was not difficult but be advised that there were some holes that were not lined up correctly and we had to drill holes to get some parts to fit correctly. This one came with better anchors than the previous one. The previous one basically just came with long tent stakes and this one came with solid ground anchors. I wouldn't consider this to be a permanent shelter but I hope it holds up for a few years of Seattle weather. It seems like it should do pretty well against the rain and occasional snow, we'll see how it hold up against wind. I am also posting a photo, you can ignore the extension cord in the photo, that was for the use of the drill and we also ran a metal detector all over the ground picking up a ton of nails left on the ground by the previous owner.
