Answer:
Good question! I would think it would depend on which veggies are under it, how far from the equator you are, and how much sunshine you get. My tomatoes wouldn't like it, but maybe my green beans would. I'd try it out and ask them what they think. This particular roll says it's 85% UV protection, which isn't very strong as this shade cloth can go.

Neobius, I used to be a plant propagator and nursery grower.
These 6 X 15' shade cloths would be considered about 15%, if that.
I don't think they can even be called shade cloths.
THey are not remotely similar to the "Shade sails" by the smae company.
If you're even considering shading then yes, these allow for plenty of light.

Yes, but it will leave lots of little "threads" to clean up, so do that outside.

Not unless you roll it under and stitch a reinforcement seam. Any lateral force will rip the material and cause it to fray.

Answer:
Shelterlogic's Sun Screen Shade Cloth can be cut to size. We recommend doubling up on the part you are cutting to avoid fraying.

Are there d-rings or grommets already installed or is this literally just a roll of fabric?

Answer:
It's a roll of fabric. Grommets, clips, etc are sold separately. At least that's what the description says.

Would it work for covering a window that gets full sun?

Can I put grommets in to secure it to my home, and would it need to be angled away, like an awning, or could it be flat against the window, and still work (assuming it can be used like this). The windows are on the side facing E/S, if that helps (those rooms are several degrees hotter than the rest of the house, even with doubled up curtains inside)

I have panels of this stuff folded to the exact width of my windows and held in place on the outside by feeding about 2'' in through the top and bottom sections then shutting and locking them on these ends. Worked like a charm last summer by keeping the south-, east-, and west-facing windows from becoming solar-collectors. The cloth was against the windows on the outside, not angled away. Not to worry Read More

Not to worry about double-paned windows as you must with some tinting films. Just take care not to let this cloth touch any window A/C unit as it will melt. Read Less

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by its not CLOTH!!! Not sure what is the purpose of this thing. Does not block out the sun. The light blue color poorly diffuses sun light. It softens it a little bit but you feel the heat coming through when the sun is over head. Not significant enough to where you feel your stiting in shade. Dimensions are fine. If you want plants to still get light but with less intensity when the the sun is at its peak, this would be a good product. If you want a shaded patio to block the sun this is a bad product. Almost forgot its a plastic material with little holes over the entire product. Its not CLOTH!!! Deceiving name. June 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to work with This screening is really easy to work with, and looks great May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product I wish the stores would carry this product so I didn't have to keep ordering it on line. November 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 6 X 15' "Shade Cloths,".....NOT I don't think a single layer of this fabric would be any use to anyone unless they are trying to marginally reduce the light on some crops. The images of the color choices are not this fabric, nor is the distant photo of the play set canopy. I think if it was sold as horticultural shade cloth it would rated around 15%. If you want shade, order some DeWitt shade cloth. July 3, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by not very good not what i thought for what its supposed to do.does not do all it says. July 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Price and Nice Color Option I needed the sun screen shade cloth to place over my two pergolas, because the lattice work was not enough to protect the plants from the California sun. The color, size and quality is great. It was also the first time I ordered something from Home Depot online...too dangerous to walk around the store and spend more than I have LOL. May 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by i Like it I used it on my back porch. I like it to keep bugs away June 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shade Cloth works well I used it to block the afternoon sun from my horse stall and it did the job, however it also blocked some of the airflow so in the end I took it down. Very good quality sunscreen, better than expected. April 7, 2015
