Customer Questions & Answers

Why can't I find replacement afs

Asked by: Lou
It looks like the replacement pads are discontinued. I thought this was a horrible tool with nothing to snap/hold the pads in place on the one I bought. Maybe it worked for some people because there are a couple good reviews in with the bad. My guess is this was not a popular tool and it will disappear as they sell the remaining inventory.

Customer Reviews

6.25 in. Trim and Touch Up Pad is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for tight places My master bathroom has lots of narrow places between trim and cabinetry that would be time consuming to paint with a brush and masking tape. this tool made the process quick and easy, and I could even cut the pads to fit into the tightest of places.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and inexpensive Before puchasing this I have read the reviews and almost changed my mind about purchasing this. But given the cheap price, I decided to give it a try and it worked as it was supposed to. Very easy to use and somewhat holds a lot of paint so you dont need to keep on re-filling. Im not a professional painter, but for DIY painting projects it worked great for my trims.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not so great My experience is like many of the other reviewers, the pad falls off the wand. Home Depot carried a similar product in the past, Padco paint wand, that was better because the pad stayed on the wand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible This looked like a handy little tool, but this is the most aggravation you can find for such a low price. The pad will not stay on. If you apply any slight pressure to get good paint coverage, the pad slips off and then you have a mess. There is a little raised lip that should hold the pad, but it falls short of the job. Its not worth the money to stand in the return line, but i think I must return it just on principle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good concept, but poor design I've used paint pads for many years, and I thought this was just a straightforward trim pad. One fatal flaw, though- they didn't put a little tab to hold the pad in place, so when I was painting trim, the pad repeatedly slid out and hit the dirty floor. After the third time it slid out, I gave up and went back to a brush. A very simple notch or detent to hold the pad in place on the handle would make this a great product. As it is, it's very frustrating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating The pad will not stay in place -- keeps sliding out. Too bad, because it really applies paint smoothly and evenly if only it would stay together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed I was just painting some doors and trim. These did the trick!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy Little Paint Pad I have bought this small pad for years and used it for trim and touch up work. I use it ON stucco, bricks, paneling, doors, drywall, and metal. And, I use it FOR baseboards, door and window trim, and painting the wall up close to a door frame and fireplace bricks . This small pad was not designed to do the big projects a roller or brush does. If used properly, it will work hard and paint smooth. Don't load up the paint or push hard. Wash the pad between jobs and be creative. I noticed that Sure-line has larger pads, a scuff roller, and a Teflon mention just a few innovative products. I did not rate it a 5-star because the pad can slide off if you push hard...which is no more annoying than a bristle that comes off a brush. I do recommend this paint pad for touch up and trim projects.
