This tool is one of the only on the market that allows you to flick the wheel guards back and out of the way while you get paint on the pad. If you can't manage to get paint on there evenly, use a paint brush as needed. Once you figure out how to use this edger and keep paint off the top edge & wheels - you will be in painting heaven. I've used this on an extension rod for ceilings, corners of walls, and baseboards. I can do 3 feet of edging in 2 minutes with this tool. Flawless finish - use plenty of paint so you don't have to do a second coat. No tape needed.
Worth the time to learn how to use and money well spent.

Easy to use, only issue I had was getting too much paint on the pad, then it runs, drips and makes a mess. Otherwise great product.

First let me say I have used the previous, less bells and whistle, version of this pad with great sucess. I can not say the same for this one the only thing this doesn't get paint on is what you are trying to paint ( in my case the edges of the ceiling. There is no way to properly load this pad with paint and have it not drip all over the place . The first time I just barely touched the surface of the paint pad, it didn't look like it had any paint on it at all, spent the next 10 minutes wiping blobs of paint of me and the walls, then tried dabbing the pad with a small amount of paint from a paint brush, same outcome. The paint didn't however, come out smoothly or cover the area I was trying to paint! I used the older version to paint a 12 cathederal ceiling on a pole several years ago and it was easy and perfect. This thing, wiggles and you have to turn it around and fuss with it to get it at the right angle to paint and then it moves if you apply any pressure. Buy the old type if you can still find it and run from this one, it doesn't save time as you will have to go back and do it again with a brush, will spend time cleaning up drips and possibly buying new carpeting if you haven't used a very thick drop cloth.

In short - it does not work! I painted 10 feet of ceiling edge and have 7 feet that need to be retouched. The gap provided by the rollers is next to zero, so any surface imperfection causes a problem. Any bubble of paint on the pad is transferred to the ceiling. Loading the pad causes paint to seep around the edges - after two or three times you need to take it apart, clean, and start over.
Normally any ceiling edger will leave small strip of ceiling paint on the wall. That way you are looking at a clean, straight paint line instead of the variable joint between the wall and the ceiling.
If you want a zero-tolerance edge, buy painters tape. If you want a clean line between the wall & the ceiling, buy something else.
