Product Overview

The Dual Function Circuit Breaker combines GFCI and AFCI, protecting against both Arc Faults and Ground Faults. This, along with the new Self-Test and Lockout feature, makes it the first in class in electrical safety for homeowners. The 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) now requires both Arc Fault and Ground Fault protection on kitchen and laundry circuits. Before the release of Dual Function Circuit Breakers, the only option to comply with this code was to pair an AFCI circuit breaker with a GFCI receptacle. The Dual Function Circuit breaker combines these 2 devices into once solution that provides both cost savings and less hassle in installation and maintenance. This is a win solution for everyone. Testing GFCI's and AFCI's on a monthly basis is a good idea that is sometimes forgotten. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) suggests that AFCI/GFCI devices be tested every 30 days after installation to ensure they are properly working. Now the new Self-Test and Lockout feature enables the Dual Function Circuit Breaker to automatically and continuously test itself to ensure that it is working properly. If it is detected that the device has been compromised, the device trips itself and locks out the homeowner from resetting the device, reducing the possibility of the homeowner incorrectly assuming that the device was tripped to prevent a ground/arc fault. This effortless system guarantees that only the best protection is given to your home at all times.

Customer Questions & Answers

Does Siemens make the 20 amp AFCI/GFCI combination in a two pole breaker for use in a split circuit?

Asked by: PopNOut
The AFCI and GFCI circuits must have their own neutrals and cannot share a neutral, if this is what you mean by 'split circuit'. So they will not work on a circuit with a shared neutral.

Will this work in my Siemens Panel (Catelog Number G3040B1200)? Will it void the warranty, since Type QFGA2 is relatively new and not listed in the panel's table? The rest of my circuit breakers are type QP, but I'm added a few branch circuits for a basement finish which require AFCI protection under 2014 NEC.
Asked by: Chad
Yes, it can be used in G3040B1200 and it will not void the breaker warranty. Please refer to link below for the UL letter authorizing use in panels that list QAF & QPF breakers on the wiring diagram. https://workspace.automation.sea.siemens.com/division/PDandC/apps/tcs/Circuit%20Breakers/Breaker%20Substitution%20-%20AFCI%20and%20GFCI%20-%20Siemens.pdf

The GFCI outlet in my swimming pool area got wet and failed. Actually fried real bad and melted. I'm thinking of installing a GFCI breaker for the circuit instead. Is this the correct product to use and will it work with an S4040B1200 load center?
Asked by: LB
Hi, the Q115DF will work in your panel. This is a new breaker for us and you will need the UL Letter below for inspection. Since this is a duel function breaker you will have AFCI and GFCI production. You many experience nescience tripping due to the AFCI function. If you are only looking for GFCI protection you may want to go with our QF115A. It’s has GFCI protection only and has the same 5mA of ground fault protection. https://workspace.automation.sea.siemens.com/division/PDandC/apps/tcs/Circuit%20Breakers/Breaker%20Substitution%20-%20AFCI%20and%20GFCI%20-%20Siemens.pdf
