The architect is asking for a 225 amp fused disconnect is that different than a disconnect that uses a breaker? Or can a fuse be used instead

Hi pieraduck, A fused disconnect uses a fuse as the overcurrent protection device. A non-fused disconnect would be protected by a circuit breaker upstream at the panel. Either can be used but it depends on the application. I would recommend consulting a professional electrician to have a look at your install and be sure you are meeting all code requirements.

Need a disconnect at meter because panel is 30 ft from meter. Will this work?

The electric used to be supplied from the back of the house but now comes from the front. The panel was installed in the back of the house. Since the wire from the meter to the panel is over 6 feet, I need a 200 amp main disconnect at the meter. Will this work?

Hi Justme, This load center would work as a main disconnect for you, but you would have to buy the main breaker separately. The main you would need is a Q2200B which can be found here:

Using as main pannel from power meter to split from 200 meter to two 100amp subpannels

I need to know the circuit breakers I need buy for this outdoor enclosure (which will be my main pannel) which will be taking power from a 200 amp power meter The 200 amp main circuit breaker to buy The two 100 amp main breakers that will be used to power the two separate sub-panels Thanks for your help.

Hello electric, The main breaker that you would use in this panel is a Q2200B which you can find here: This panel accepts Siemens type QP circuit breakers so you would need a Q2100P to use as the 100 Amp 2 pole circuit breakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 200 Amp Disconnect is cost effective way to feed subpanel and avoid voltage drop. This panel has lugs big enough for 250 KCMIL wire, so you can use large aluminum to avoid voltage drop. The price of this panel plus a 100A breaker is the lowest cost way to feed a subpanel at the end of a long run of wire made of aluminum. Other subpanel sizes could be 150A or 60A or 200A by choosing a different breaker as disconnect switch that separate buildings often require by code. The price of this way is 40% compared to main disconnect switches without fuses.
