This interlock kit was very easy to install it's of decent quality. The cost (of ANY brand interlock kit) is a joke for a few pieces of sheet metal and some screws. There are however, 2 additional major disadvantages with the Siemens model versus the others. What makes it worse, these little tidbits were nowhere to be found in any literature.
First, when the unit is installed, it renders the 2 spaces just across from it unusable. That's a pretty big deal when you are installing into an existing panel and possible one that is already full. So basically, you are looking at 4 spaces needed for installation. If that wasn't bad enough, you are unable to use fillers for the 2 additional spaces it takes up. The metal frame extends into that area part way. Had it covered up the open spaces completely (a very easy design modification) I would be a little more impressed.
Second, after the unit is installed, the only way to remove the panel cover is to shut the main breaker off. Not a HUGE deal but it's another point that should be listed in the literature for the product and it's the only interlock kit that I have ever used so far that makes you shut off the main breaker to do so.
If I didn't know any better, I would say these 2 little items may have been intentionally left out of any type of advertisement or brochure.....but a major company like Siemens would never do that, would they??

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Upgraded Works as intended. Easy mod to use spaces to the right.
This interlock does exactly what it is supposed to do and is very easy to install. One complaint by several reviewers is that with the interlock in place, the two breaker slots to the right can not be used. This is true, however it can easily be modified to allow full use of all breaker slots in your panel. See the attached pictures for details on how to make this simple modification...

The Interlock kit was very easy to install and fit perfectly. I would recommend this as an easy and safe way to prevent back feed. Picture shown includes breaker which is not included in purchase.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mero Entirely Satisfactory Power Disconnect From HOME DEPOT !
The power disconnect from HOME DEPOT is entirely sufficient and makes installation easy. Quality is not compromised in the standby power interlock kit from HOME DEPOT. I can rest assured that my customer will be satisfied with this unit from HOME DEPOT. Although, the price seems high for this small part, HOME DEPOT's price is much better than many other suppliers.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JM71 Concern about panel access
I understand and accept that the #2 & 4 breakers must be moved and had done so, but my bigger concern is how the interlock snaps into the breakers. From looking at how the interlock snaps into the sides of the breakers behind the metal panel, once the breaker panel is back on, it looks like it would be impossible to get that breaker panel back off in the future if needed. Am I misunderstanding something or is there a way to remove this interlock if needed?

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MikeK Generator Breaker will not move far enough to stay on
With this plate in place, the 50 amp breaker for the generator will not snap into the on position. It needs a little bit more room. I had to use it this week and I had to take the cover of the panel off, remove the interlock and operate without them. Not what is intended.
I need to get something to replace it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ahd505 Easy and inexpensive alternative to seperate transfer switch!
After much research I found this product. I live in an area that frequently loses power and have wanted something like this for a long time. I found a lot of reviews on this product. It is true, the product hangs into breaker 2 and 4, so you will have to move them. Luckily I had plenty of room to do so. I just need to get a couple of covers to replace the temporary duct tape. I found that I did not need to alter the panel cover as mentioned in some reviews. If you turn off both breakers and move the slides, you can put cover on without altering it first. The next step is to test it with a generator, but see no issues with it working. Overall a reasonably priced, easy install alternative to putting in a seperate transfer switch.
