Customer Questions & Answers

Is this canvas or plastic?

I want to use them as curtains in my new screened porch. I understand they aren't going to 'water/wind/cold proof' from our brutal winters, but I think they would be aesthetically pleasing and more affordable than outdoor curtains made with Sunbrella fabric. Thanks.

Can you paint it?

We want to paint it to use as a background/scenery for a play. Would that work? will the paint stick or peel off?
Asked by: boatbride
Sigman 6 ft. x 8 ft. White Heavy Duty Tarp has woven reinforced polyethylene plastic fabric. Most paints do not work well with polyethylene fabric. Please consult an art supply store to see which type of paints might work.

Will this work as a temporary privacy screen for a chain-link fence? Can I use an s hook to attach?

This is to create privacy in our yard for us & my daycare.
Asked by: J777
Sigman 6 ft. x 8 ft. White Heavy Duty Tarp is not recommended for fence screens. The reason is there is usually too much wind pressure for a solid piece of tarp on chain link fence. Sigman Privacy fence screen mesh tarps allow wind to pass through and therefore usually a better solution.

will a 5/7 tarp fit a bike that is 62x29.5x38

Asked by: Anonymous
I assume the bike's exact dimensions are 62" long, 38" tall, & 29.5" wide. If you don't need the tarp to cover it in every direction, like say leaving the front and back exposed, then the tarp just need to be as long as your bike (62") and as wide as the width plus 2 times the height [given my assumptions thats 29.5+(2x38) = 105.5"] This is a rough estimate, since a bike doesn't conform exactly to it's dimensions, but a 5 x 7 tarp is 60" x 84", so I don't think that'll be large enough. You'd probably need something 6' x 9' (or 7' x 9' in order to close the front and back).

How thick is it?

Thickness is listed as .25 inches, i.e., one quarter of an inch, the thickness of a yoga mat. This cannot be true... the tarp would weigh too much. What is the true thickness?
Asked by: Ananda
Sigman 6 ft. x 8 ft. White Heavy Duty Tarp's fabric is 10 MIL thick. The tarp's overall height 0.25 inches include the grommet height and the height / thickness of plastic corner reinforcement.

Customer Reviews

6 ft. x 8 ft. White Heavy Duty Tarp is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Outdoor Projector Screen Similar to several other reviewers, was looking for an inexpensive screen to project movies on outdoors and this tarp works great. Depending on the angle of the projector you may get some reflective hot spots, but nothing that is bad enough to complain about. I hung it from a swing set cross beam using the tarp's grommets, and we were in business in less than 5 minutes. There are creases in the tarp where it was folded in the packaging, but I haven't found that they negatively impact the viewing experience. We've watched a couple of kid's movies and a football game on it and although I am sure there are video purists who would be appalled to use a tarp as a screen, it works for a fraction of the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good! Thick material, bright white. Almost too nice to get dirty. Some tarps have loosely woven strands, not this one! The grommets are aluminum (no rust) and the seams are thick with reinforced corners. Yay!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tarp I have only had the tarp for 2 weeks, but it held up great during the last week of storms in the Bay Area, CA - 8 inches of rain and up to 45 MPH winds over a 5 day period. The tarp was used as a wind block for the items on my porch. AKA - was used vertically in a solid sheet from the ceiling (by hooks) of the porch down to the porch railings (by tarp ball bungees).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great inexpensive tarp I'm very pleased with this tarp. It has good quality grommets all the way around, and even came with an 'extra' in the packaging. I'm using this tarp as a sun-shade on my balcony. (see photos)
