Is this raw wood? Would they take a stain well or is that not recommended. Also, is there a way to get posts that look identical in color to the panels? Looking at the photo it looks like the posts used don't seem to go with the panels.
Asked by: Jake
Hello Jake. Yes it is raw Cedar and will take a stain nicely. The 2x4 structure is stained the color you see however you could get an associate in the paint department to do a close stain match and then try to make posts similar. The typical pressure treated posts in the NW are somewhat similar in color. Thanks for your interest.

Can the panels easily be cut down to 4ft width? And if so, how do you do that?

The last panel in the run would need to be shorter than the 8ft.
Asked by: Bree
Hello Bree Modifying the panels is somewhat difficult to do but if you will call Julie at our office at 360-825-9000 she will work hand in hand with you to see if we can get one of our builders to produce a custom width one for you. We can't always do that, but on occasion we have capacity and when can we are happy to go that extra step to satisfy your needs.

can you order in 6f H by 6ft W

Asked by: Sherri
Hi Sherri. Please type in "Cedar Fence Kit" in the search bar and you will see what we offer 6ft wide. The 8ft panel we make is not available as a 6' wide. The kit may currently be out of stock so work your way down to the bottom of the listings but you will see it there. Some assembly required. Thank you

Customer Reviews

6 ft. H x 8 ft. W Western Red Cedar Lattice Top Fence Panel is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Questionable Quality First off we had to shuffle through 5 pallets of panels in order to find 15 panels of decent quality. Decent quality being that there were not excessive staples sticking out, not fully embedded or miss-punched. Another challenge was finding enough panels that did not have nails embedded in the 2x4's so deep that they were splitting the wood or small woods pieces that were not measured or assembled identically from one panel to the next. It is quite obvious that whomever is putting these together for sale at Home Depot is more concerned about the speed of assembly not quality. After picking through the panels, taking much time to remove errand staples and hammering in loose ones, and staining; they do provide nice look from 10 feet or more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely low-quality product I bought eleven of these panels for an 85-foot long fence project. Out of those, five were nearly unusable on delivery and required major rework - prying out staples and replacing slats, replacement of top boards, replacement of lattice boards. The issues fall into two categories: materials and workmanship. The 2 x 4 parts are made from knotty cedar, and particularly on the top boards, they can become very warped. Presumably they are stored outside and see a lot of wet/dry cycles. The slats are tongue-in-groove cedar that warps around knots and shrinks dramatically as it dries. In the two weeks between building and painting my fence, we had a hot spell and gaps as large as half an inch formed between some of them. I saw dry-rot and evidence of insect infestation in lattice boards and slats. The workmanship on these panels is atrocious. The 2x4 elements are put together with galvanized nails. In some places it is clear that air pressure was running low on the nail guns, because the nails didn't seat properly. Virtually every one required hammering flush. Several went in at such extreme angles that they split the boards or the point stuck out of the mating part. The remaining parts are attached with staples. The staples in many cases are driven in at odd angles, splitting the trim pieces and lattice boards. The assemblers took no care in lining things up square or flush before securing them. The parts are cut to dramatically varying lengths, leaving gaps as large as 3/4" in joints that should be flush. The overall size of the panels ranged from 95-7/8" to 96-1/2" - something to keep in mind when setting your posts. Sure, they're only $80, but if you have the time and the tools, you should just build your own panels and get a fence that will last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick and easy installation Good quality product at a good price with easy installation. Once your first post is set, it's just a matter of making sure things are plumb, and straight. From there it goes as fast as you can dig holes and set panels. Looks like a million bucks when it's all said and done. Highly recommend a sealer applied before moisture sets in as the wood is very dry. Beautiful cedar enhances our garden features

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lattice Top Fence Panels I highly recommend these fence panels. I have had these surrounding my yard for over 15 years--no stain or paint. They are starting to break down and we've removed a hedge, so it is time to replace them. I will be using the same ones from Home Depot. Great product and very attractive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from lattice top fence Main problem was the stated width of the fence panels. They're supposed to be 8ft. There not. My panels ranged from 96.10 to 96.30. I set my posts at 96. The panels wouldn't fit. I had to trim away on the posts. The best way to install them would be one post and one panel at a time. They look great from 10 ft. Up close you can see lots of staples and nails that haven't been completely driven in. Also, the 1x5 cedar planks that make up the majority of the fence panel do not actually attach to the sides of the panel! Only the upper and lower planks are anchored in. If you push on them they really flex...not good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for the price. Nice, sturdy product for the price. Used this to patch an unsightly bit of my neighbor's fence that they couldn't access. It's not the same quality as a custom fence, but it's a great quick fix.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Manufacturer made right! I had problems with my fence panel in the recent storm. The manufacturer of this product wanted me to be a happy customer and we were able to come to a resolution of my problems. It is wonderful to deal with a company that is in the USA, local, and is concerned for customer satisfaction!
