When I decided to remodel my kitchen, I was in love with the idea of marble, but of course that isn't a good idea. I needed something that would last. I couldn't have made a better selection, my kitchen looks beautiful, the counter tops are amazing. Home Depot did a great job installing it, between the ordering and installation, it did take about 3 weeks, I am in love with my kitchen. The sample size of Lyra didn't look pretty, but luckily I trusted my husbands gut instinct, it is quite beautiful.

It was very nice to be able to purchase a sample of the quartz countertop we're interested in. And the size is perfect to carry around in trying to find other items for our new bathroom. :) Thank you!

We were going to install Carrara marble for our kitchen until many contractors warned us against the poor durability of Carrara. A few friends who used to be in the countertop business actually begged us not to get Carrara for the kitchen. So instead we opted to get Silestone Lyra after researching all over for a Quartz alternative to Carrara. We originally hired a local contractor here in Southern California who (suprise suprise) decided not to finish the job. So after being tired of working with these small-time discount contractors we decided just to go with Home Depot and put our minds at ease.
Silestone Lyra is not an exact replica of Carrara and it doesn't really try to be. It's modern yet still classy and the pattern is reminiscent of natural stone yet still feels undoubtedly quartz. I actually took samples of Carrara and Silestone and did a durability test on both and the results were eye-opening. After dropping lemon juice on the Carrara the surface hazed up and became rough; there was no effect on the Silestone. Also after banging the samples with a steel wrench the Lyra once again was completely unaffected and the Carrara was visibly beaten; scratched, dinged, and chipped.
Regarding the installation and sales process at Home Depot; we were extremely happy to get the Silestone Lyra while it was on sale. Just for comparison we price shopped a few other discount kitchen remodelers before purchasing and we found that Home Depot's price was not unreasonable and in some cases was better than local countertop shops. The company that they used to handle the install was unbelievably professional, curteous, knowledgeable, and the work they did was excellent (of course your experience may vary depending on location). I emailed them a few times prior to the install taking place and their rep always responded within hours and sometimes in the middle of the night.
All in all I'm actually very happy that our original contractor walked out on the job because I doubt he would have done as great a job as Home Depot did. The entire process from beginning to end was excellent and the price, although not the cheapest, was well worth the investment. I've always really liked Home Depot and this experience just confirmed to me why we keep coming back even though theres a Lowes just a stones throw away. Cheers :)

If you are wanting to order a sample (larger than the square on the wall) then don't waste your money. This sample is not worth having unless you have already decided this is your color and just want it to keep in mind as your progress with decorating.
