Acadian Dark Tobacco Brown Open Bookcase is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from stay away from this shelving unit I've put a few cabinets with this construction together before, but this one just ended my desire to purchase any more of this stuff. The instructions are the usual: no words, just pictures; and these ones are too small to ascertain what is a dowel and what is cam pin. That of course becomes obvious when you look at the holes drilled in the boards. But if this is your first time it would be better to have decent drawings. There could also be stickers numbering the boards and then references to those in the instructions, but that is not what the manufacturer did. But the instruction issue is a pretty common occurrence. Here's what I found that really irked me: The cam clips (the piece you turn to pull in the cam pin) are so cheap and thinly made I actually broke one turning it. The dowel holes are a little too big, so the dowels do not fit snugly in all the places they are used. They are lose. The are also short because the boards are thin, so things need to be held when putting it together. This thing is nice and floppy during assembly. When it came time to put the top on, which is the second last step, the whole unit was not square. So you either knock the cam pins out of true to get them to meet the holes (which strips the wood hole they are screwed into), or twist the unit to get them to line up which will create some interesting sounds! The boards themselves are made of strips about three inches wide which are glued together. This wood was certainly not cured long enough as it wants to pop apart again to get back to is former shape. One side came that way. Just lightly tapping a board to push the board onto three dowels caused one to pop and start to separate. I did that and the board popped; I did not even make a mark on where I was tapping. Bottom Line: Look for another shelving solution. (Or pick mine up from the bin in my back lane.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks ok, poor quality My wife asked me to order this for her online. When it arrived only a few days later we were very excited to set it up. It is quite heavy and gives the impression of a more expensive item. Major worry with this item is the quality of the hardware they supply. A number of screws, and cam locks stripped and broke with very minimal force during installation. We didn't really expect such poor quality from Home Depot. Disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect!!! For my LP's I was looking for a bookcase for my LP records (luckily someone else's review included a picture of his albums in this shelf) It was exactly what I was looking for. Arrived on time, intact and securely packaged. Assembling this wasn't bad (took me about two Bob Marley albums amount of time to put together) Would have been easier with someone helping, but I managed. The only extra tool you'll need is a Phillips head screwdriver. Instructions are good enough to get you through it and all the parts were there, plus a few extras. Looks great, feels sturdy and since I pretty much only buy albums...I may end up getting a second one some day. Enjoy

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pros&Cons-like a puzzle but with weeping I am not sure if I would recommend. For the price it is a great deal, and a very nice 'expensive looking' piece - however to get to that happy place this is what you are facing: The fasteners are (cam bolts/locks) are too soft and easily twist/break in half - which is the main fastener on the whole unit. The holes for the fasteners or a little too tight or a little too big - therefore allowing things to fall out at the worse possible time. The pine knots are not properly sealed and seem to leak a kind of powdery film...maybe its what they used to seal them - not sure. But you wipe it off and look back, and its there again - however the knots are still not super obvious on ours as they coincide with the inside of the cabinet. The instruction manual is backwards!!! ..FOR THE LOVE OF BARNEY STINSON - DO NOT follow the sequence as stated in the instructions. It should be started top down - meaning place the top of it topside down, sitting flat on the ground and assemble up from there not bottom up (legs) first! Obviously the guy that wrote the manual never actually put it together, and sat at a computer and did a simulation and didn't account for simple things - like a lack of zero gravity. Plan it out first - do yourself a favour and save your sanity. And try not to do it around 'little ears' - trust me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from shelf Nice looking...instructions dont make sense... So i screwed up at first. The veneer is thin so it split easily. other than that its great! I suggest putting up one if the sides as u assemble. It will give u stability. Put in the cams into the side wall and insert the shelves as u build up. Happy overall. But veneer is cheap so be careful and build with 2 pple.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice but.... This was the hardest thing I ever had to try to put together, the directions were awful

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks good but a pain to put together Looks good once you get it together. Missing hardware, no wood dowels and 5 missing cam pins, and instructions are worthless. But if you can put up with the frustrations it looks nice once you get it together. It's really not difficult to put together, do the bottom and one side first and then build it up, and if you can get the missing parts easily. Home Depot did give me the parts for free. Also you should drill pilot holes when putting on the back panels or the wood will probably split.
