I recently purchased this bench as a gift for my mom for Christmas. Everything was true to description and it was relatively easy to setup. My only issue was that one piece of the bench was chipped. It was kind of disappointing, as I gave it as a gift. Since it was for my mom, I let her decide what to do with it and she decided to keep it and just touch up the part that was chipped with paint. It was on the arm rest area, so it was very noticeable, but not damaged enough to return the whole product. Aside from that, she loves the bench!

Bench looks just like the picture on line.True to color. Dark brown. Perfect in front door entry way. It was missing 2 drill holes, but easy to to figure out were to drill. I would definetly recommend this bench. Lots of room for storage.

I love the bench. I looked at a lot of benches and the prices were up to over $300. This is exactly what I wanted in my entryway and it does look exactly like the picture. All the holes lined up and there weren't any scratches on the pieces. It took approximately over an hour with two people assembling it. The most challenging part was aligning the hinges together and making sure that the lid did not rub against the arms of the bench when lifted. I would definitely recommend this bench and the quality of the workmanship is of great quality. I'm really glad I ordered this and the shipping time took about a week.

This piece is beautiful and true to color. It was easy to assemble. I didn't pay attention to image dimensions when I ordered it, so it was surprisingly short.

The bench looks exactly as depicted. It arrived in perfect condition, with all parts and no scratches. I was able to assemble it by myself and I am not handy and have never done something like that before. It would definitely be easier with two people though.

Purchased the Amherst entryway bench in July 2015. The designer uses “support bars” to strengthen the joint where the side panel meets the front and back of the cabinet. Once the front/back is aligned with the side using pins, you are supposed to run 8 screws through the support and screw them into the side and front/back, which is difficult because there is limited access to tighten the screws, and holes are not pre-drilled in the hard wood. If you try to drill pilot holes, you run the risk of drilling through the finished surfaces.
The designer added a 5th leg, centered on the bottom of the cabinet, to help support the weight of someone sitting on the bench. It was the longest leg, so the bench sat on 2 side legs and the center leg; if you shifted on the bench, the bench would rock to the 2 legs on the opposite side, but the center leg always stayed on the floor. Cutting down the center leg enough, but not too much, took time.
The kit was well packaged and arrived without visible damage. Still, a few parts arrived scuffed; overall, the quality of the finish was fair and looked like it was done by a trainee rather than in a factory with quality control. It looks good from 5 ft away, but it’s not a show piece.
I’d suggest you take your changes on another product.

Let me start by saying that I like this bench. It is a very nice piece of furniture, sturdy, and looks nice. The bench took a long time to build. Other than the time it took to put it together and the difficulty to follow the instructions to build it, I am happy with the bench.
