Product Overview

Berkshire Flooring Carpet Tiles are the softest carpet tile available on the market today. They are manufactured to allow for a broadloom appearance once installed. The Tranquility Style is available in multiple colors that can be mixed and matched to your liking, allowing you to be as creative as you want or they can be installed all in one color. The tiles are 24 in. x 24 in. and come with a pre-applied pressure sensitive adhesive so you simply peel and stick them to the floor. Installation is easy, the only tools that you need are a square, a tape measure and a carpet knife. Customer Questions & Answers

Wil these go down on a concrete slab floor?

Asked by: DIYer
Absolutely! That is exactly what we did. We took a carpet cleaner to the cement floor to wash it thoroughly, then dried it completely before we applied them. We love the result! Everyone keeps telling us how amazed they are that these are carpet squares. The carpet pad that is part of the square is also very nice.

can this go over a wood floor? we want to use it as an area rug. will the adhesive come up easy if we want to take it up?

We have carpet tiles now as an area rug, but they are not peel and stick, just a special rubber backing so they do not slide.
Asked by: shaas
I wouldn't recommend these as an area rug. After a while I think the threads on the end will come apart and the sides aren't very pretty if you have to cut them. The adhesive would probably come off of the wood floor depending on what cleaners you can use on your floors.

We are thinking of installing these in 3 bedrooms. I know it comes with padding, but should we wish to install additional padding, would it stick well to the padding or will the padding cause the carpet tiles to move?
Asked by: Eve
it will not stick to additional padding the padding already included seems to work just fine for our kids 2 bedrooms

Tranquility Toffee Texture 24 in. x 24 in. Carpet Tile (10 Tiles/Case) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This stuff is great! Will never buy regular carpet again. Installed two years ago in kids' room--by myself. Great for baby room or asthma/allergy sufferers cause no harsh chemical smell. I installed & I have asthma. Doesn't take strength or skill. I was nervous, but it's easy. Today I replaced 3 worn/stained tiles--room looks like new! Easy install & peels up easy to replace later. Do not use spray glue. Glue is light so you can re-position--it stays in place once it is down & walked on. It seems like it won't stick cause it's not 'sticky,' but it stays. Do NOT keep re-positioning it--put in place & butt it to next one, then move on. If it doesn't fit exact, grab another one. This will happen in couple of places--normal & won't see once it's done. Put plastic back on used pieces for odd spots like in closet/corner. Read my entire directions before you start and install will be perfect--learned hard way (wasted several tiles)! I scoured the Internet before I did install (wasted ton of time) & this method is best. This carpet is not for high traffic areas, but you can replace worn tiles & whole carpet looks like new. BUY AN EXTRA BOX! Color lot may be little different batch to batch. BEFORE YOU START--check box to make sure all boxes are same style & color name! Do this FIRST--use black marker to draw arrows on back of square cause once you cut one, can't tell which way is correct! Will waste time if you don't mark each one. IMPORTANT--when laying squares, ARROWS ALL POINT TO DOOR. It makes a difference once it's all installed. Also, straight-edge cutter--use kind where blade snaps off for fresh edge--blade gets dull quick. Keep a grocery sack for trimmings; put plastic backing into box as you go. Use kitchen shears to cut out around woodwork. Fit squares together neatly, but don't worry about keeping exact line across room. Do NOT try to trim to make it fit (except at wall) or edges won't butt together precisely. Once it's done, seams blend away. Remember--ALL ARROWS POINT TO DOOR! Put down complete squares throughout entire room & do edges of room last. Work starting from door, then work to the right. Save cutting/fitting parts near wall for last, once you have the hang of it. NOTE: press edges of each square down by hand before installing or removing plastic backing, so loose carpet fibers don't get caught under the next square--best trick for making it go quicker & neat look. Position first edge before pressing it in place against floor. If you don't press down, you can kind of scoot it into place for a better fit. Keep extra squares in closet to replace worn/stained tiles. Enjoy!

Not a bad product...easy to cut and install with a decent razor knife and a tape measure. Clean the subfloor thoroughly with something like TSP before trying to put down, and it'll look great! The included adhesive backing is incredibly hit-or-miss, and varies greatly between individual tiles in the same case. Some are super sticky, others have barely enough to keep the protective film attached. Make sure to grab extra adhesive and a notched trowel. The directional arrows for the pile are also printed in a wide range, too. Some you can see, others are practically invisible. These are clearly printed using multiple assembly lines with different print heads.

It was easy to install but the boxes we got has several with holes in the middle of the squares and some with corners missing. These damaged squares could not be used and were a waste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be happier! I bought this carpet because it was one of the few neutral colored, in-stock carpet tile selections in town. Based off of the one review on this site I was willing to give it a try. Like the last reviewer said they have decided to use it in other places of their basement because they are so happy with it...so are we. We are going to do a bedroom in the same product. My husband just cuts the size he needs, a little added pressure and it is secure. Don't push the carpet squares too close together so you don't create a bubble, but you can fix it easily if you do. Great product, love how it has transformed one of the rooms in my basement and I will be buying more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great solution We recently finished our basement and wanted carpet, but worried at some point water may be an issue. The squares allowed ease of installation and we bought an extra box just in case. The nice thing about the squares is that you only replace what you need. We installed them in our theater 1 1/2 years ago and it still looks like new. We will use it in the rest of the basement rooms as we finish. The installation was simple as stated. although the seams basically disappear, they are still visible, but very slightly. We love this product.
