Product Overview

  • The Professional's Choice
  • Can install closer to the edge of concrete than expansion anchors
  • Approved for use in seismic areas
The Titen Heavy Duty Anchor is a patented, high-strength screw Anchor for concrete and masonry. It is designed for optimum performance in both cracked and un-cracked concrete. The high strength, easy to install Titen Heavy Duty Anchor has been tested and shown to provide outstanding performance in cracked and un-cracked concrete under both static and seismic loading conditions. The self-undercutting, non-expansion characteristics of the Titen Heavy Duty Anchor make it ideal for structural applications, even at reduced edge distances and spacing’s. Recommended for permanent dry, interior non-corrosive environments or temporary outdoor applications.
  • Higher load capacity and vibration resistance: threads along the length of the anchor undercut the concrete and efficiently transfer the load to the base material
  • Vibration and shock resistance: the mechanical interlock of the threads and the ratchet teeth on the underside of the head help prevent the anchor from loosening in vibratory conditions
  • Specialized heat treating process: creates superior surface hardness at the tip to facilitate cutting, while at the same time not compromising ductility within the anchor body
  • Less spacing and edge distance required: the anchor does not exert expansion forces on the base material
  • Easy post-installation inspection: the head is stamped with the Simpson Strong-Tie "≠" sign and the anchor length in inches
  • No special drill bit needed: designed to install using standard sized ANSI tolerance drill bits
  • 1/2 in. x 5 in.
  • Zinc-plated carbon steel, heat treated

Questions & Answers

Can this screw anchor be drilled into new concrete with a regular 1/2 inch drill?

Can this screw anchor be drilled into new concrete with a regular 1/2 inch drill?
Asked by: Gdaddy
To install the Titen HD, you need to drill a hole in the base material using a carbide drill bit the same diameter as the nominal diameter of the anchor to be installed. Drill the hole to the specified embedment depth plus minimum hole depth overall (see our catalog or website for complete info) to allow the thread tapping dust to settle, and blow it clean using compressed air. (Overhead installations need not be blown clean.) Alternatively, drill the hole deep enough to accommodate embedment depth and the dust from drilling and tapping. Thank you!

I am installing UFP10 foundation plates into solid concrete. When installing the Titen screw Anchors should I use a socket wrench by hand or can I use my DeWALT DCF885 20-Volt Max 1/4 in. impact driver. I know not to over tighten but not sure if the impact action might affect the mechanical grip of the anchor during installation. Thanks
Asked by: Newby
An impact driver can be used when installing the Titen HD® Heavy-Duty Screw Anchor into solid concrete, however please see Table 1 of ESR-2713 for the maximum impact wrench torque rating. (Note: do NOT use impact wrenches to install into hollow CMU). Thank you!

These were used to fasten the Simpson UFP10-SDS3 foundation plate to the concrete foundation wall. We used a cordless 1/2" Milwaukee impact drill to install these, and it was a easy-peasy. Nice, tight grip, and installed very quickly. Make sure you vacuum out holes before installing, makes all the difference in the world.
