Product Overview

Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).

  • Versatile connector for various 90 degree connections and home repair projects
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • Dimensions: 3 in. x 3 in. x 1-1/2 in.
  • Made from 12-Gauge steel
  • Galvanized for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 10d common nails or #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD screws

I want to use a U-bolt to mount this to a 1" square post - I need to know the distance between the holes from side-to-side. I acknowledge the holes are at an angle.

Answer:
The holes in the A33 are 0.156" diameter; they are sized for 10d common nails (0.148" diameter x 3" long). Side-to-side, the center-to-center distance of the holes is 11/16". Thank you!

Could I use these as wall shelf anchors?

Help! I want to make some heavy duty kitchen wall shelving, but don't have the tools for using actual floating shelf hardware. If these are anchored into studs, how much weight might I expect it to handle for a 12" deep shelf? The walls are also covered in 3/4" boards I could fasten extra angles to.

Answer:
The A33 angles are not intended for a shelf application. This connector is rated for lateral capacities, where a shelf would have a download force. Please see the SBV shelf bracket as a possible option (the SBV has a 145 lb. download capacity). Thank you!

Answer:
mike,
The A33 is designed for wood-to-wood applications.
It would be up to the Designer to specify the appropriate connector based on design, demand loads, local building codes, etc., but the E-Z Base is the only product we offer specifically for fence applications.
Thank you!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I recently built an addition to a preexisting brick wall fence by using lumber. I used these angle 90° brackets to put together the framing for the fence. They handled the job of keeping everything in place and aligned to make the job easy. I would highly recommend these brackets for any type of build job especially wood fencing. August 28, 2013
