  • Galvanized for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 10d common and 10d x 1-1/2 in. nails

Answer:
If you mean, 22.5 degrees yaw then no. The joist will bend up and down vertically, which is what I think you mean by pitch. It will not bend in the horizontal direction without severe deformation of the hanger and then I would not trust the safety of that connection.

Bob,
Possibly...
Based on the size, the LSU26 can be used with a 2x8 (it is recommended the hanger height be at least 60% of the joist height for stability), but the demand load will need to be calculated to confirm if the hanger has adequate capacity.
The LSSU28 may be another option.
Thank you!

The LSU26 can be skewed left or right to 45 degrees and/or sloped up or down 45 degrees (0 degrees would be a standard, no slope horizontal joist). Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best thing since sliced bread I've used these "joist" hangers for about 30 years. But I mostly use them as rafter hangers, not joist hangers. If you are building a simple house/cottage/shed/garage with a gable roof, and a 3/12 or 4/12 roof pitch (these are the common ones), then you nail these to your ridge beam BEFORE you put the ridge beam up in place. Just measure out for 16" on center ("OC") or 24 inch OC, depending on your frame design. After the ridge beam is up and in place, with these hangers attached, you cut the ends of your 2x6 rafters (these will even work with 2x8 rafters) at a slight angle (about 22.5 deg. for 3/12) and your rafters will just drop into place like a foot into a comfortable shoe. Make sure the rafter is pushed up against the ridge beam, then nail it into the hanger on both sides. Then your upper end of the rafter is done. Toe-nail it onto you cap plate on the wall at the other end, then trim the end with a skilsaw to suit your design. I've built about 15 basic houses this way. It would make building a garage or shed pretty easy as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid anchor I was just building a quick A-Frame roof over a fish pond. The hanger worked well. It has many holes that can be used to anchor the Joist hanger. That great because you need to use short screws (1" or less) to anchor it to the 2X4/6/8's and not have them poke out.
