Does Simpson make the same product for 15 inch insulation?

Asked by: JimMC
Yes. The 16 inch WILL work fine, for 15 inch. They bend.

can these wires be cut for 17 inch on center studs

Appropriate lengths.

If I have a distance of 440mm (17.32 inches) between joists, what length wire would I need? I'm assuming the wire would have to be slightly longer than the joist space but by how much? I'm in Australia and may have to get some made for me. Any advice would be very welcomed.
Asked by: Alby
Your problem is pretty common. Older structures are made from actual 2 in wide lumber instead of the 1-1/2 materiel we use today. Other factors like few if any standard building codes allowed carpenters to decide what placement they wanted on studs and joists. These are made in lengths to fit standard insulation sizes. Its not feasible to mass produce these in odd lengths so the times I've needed odd sizes I simply purchase the 24" and cut them to size.

No, the insulation supports are cut from carbon steel spring wire and have no finish. Thank you!

Most of my joists are OSB type with runners at top and bottom only, made of laminate engineered wood. The supports are too short, by nearly an inch, to work in between the OSB joists. In another part of the house the joists are standard 2 x 12's and the supports work fine there.
