The MP Mending Plates are not tested/load rated and have not been evaluated with plywood (shown installed on solid sawn lumber). They are intended for non-structural applications only. The concerns are since plywood is made up of thin plies of wood with alternating grain direction, pounding the teeth in may cause the wood to splinter in the first ply or two. Also, if two MPs are placed on both sides directly opposite each other, the wood grain could be disturbed through basically the whole thickness of the plywood since plywood is a lot thinner. Provided it is not for a structural application, you may wish to try it and see if it meets your needs. Thank you! Read Less

Lewis,
Place the MP mending plate over two pieces of aligned wood with the arrows aligned at the joint and hammer the plate to embed the prongs. Note: these plates are not load rated and are not intended for truss or structrual applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WANT SOME GRIP? These plates are some of the best items I have found. I have used them for framing edges of windows during construction to ensure when stucco and sheetrock are applied there is no cracking at the corners. I have used them on wooden gates to re-enforce the framing, ensuring no sagging once built. I have used them to extend a wall when plans have changed. They work great for attaching curbs for sky-lights to roof framing. Also, as corner re-enforcement for a wooden playground structure; where with the holes, I also screwed through with "Simpson" screws for even more rigidity. They can be cut into special shapes as needed too. LOVE THEM.
