  • Slotted for adjustability
  • Designed for versatility, cost-effectiveness and maximum uplift performance

3-1/2 concrete slap 5/8 too big and too long? the shortest anchor bolt I found 4 1/2 in STB2-62412

What's your recommendation for this? I want to use 3/8 x 3 STB2-37300 or 3/8 x 2 3/4 STB2-37234 Will it work? Thank YOU.
Asked by: KenW
It is up to the Designer to evaluate the condition (i.e. concrete strength, thickness, etc.) and specify the appropriate anchor bolt type, length and embedment. I'm sorry we do not have a solution to point to for a 3 1/2" thick slab. Thank you for your inquiry!

Horizontal Application

I am putting skids for a shed on top of concrete piers. I am wondering if I could install these and lay the 4x4 skids on top of them horizontally. The pictures only show vertical installations and not any horizontal installs. Would the uplift and down specifications still be the same?
Asked by: WeekendWarrior
The ABA series has not be evaluated for horizontal members, but the ABU46Z (and ABU66Z) have. Please see the L-C-ABUBEAM15 engineering letter on the website for allowable loads and complete information. Thank you!

Why does it say for 4x6 when interior of base is only 3.5" wide?

I purchased a cedar 4x6x8 from a local lumber yard to replace a support pole for my porch. Went to install this base and it only fits on about halfway and wont sit all the way flush into the bottom of the base. The width of the board is 3.75" which is about a 1/4 of an inch wider than the bottom of the base. Just trying to figure out if the board i got is not cut to the normal specs or what.

Our products are designed and rated for use with Douglas Fir, Southern Pine, Spruce-Pine-Fir and Hem-Fir (as well as some engineered wood products). We size based on the National Design Specification (NDS) which defines a nominal 4x as measuring 3 1/2" actual. Other lumbers can be used with our connectors though the allowable loads must be adjusted according to the code and sizes may differ. Please refer to note "f" of the General Notes (in our catalog or on our website). Thank you!

what is the attachment for stand off post base?

I'm using 5/8" J bolts but have failed to see anything mentioned/required/sold so that leaves size in question. I prefer too big rather than the suprise that comes with too small and 5/8" seems to fit. I'm in a class C wind area and am going 4x6 as I also have 100lb snow load and this is an unheated space so no reduction. 10 ft x 10 ft between post with 1 ft overhang
Asked by: TedV
TedV, The ABA46Z is tested/rated with a 1/2" diameter anchor; it would be up to the Designer to specify the anchor bolt type, length and embedment. Please note: the information referring to the specified anchor and fasteners can be found in the Product Overview section of the product web page. Thank you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Correct material needed I bought and installed these post bases into my back door patio floor for roof cover project. They were easy to installed with drilled holes 4 in depth and 1/2 in holes size. After set posts in and secured by galvanized screws, posts needed a little support because we were working on a windy day. Bad thing was I had one post not fit all the way down in although I used sled hammer tapped it down. I don't blame this on Home Depot but the manufactory made it not in good correct size it supported to be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These were very handy and easy to use. These products were very easy to use. They make it easy to set your post in and wrench down if extra adjustment is needed. They used a pretty heavy duty steel and have holes already pre drilled so you can anchors the post in with nails or screws. I liked them and would recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great post base that is easy to install and to keep in the correct position. Extremely easy to use post base anchor for use on a wood deck or a concrete floor. I have used this anchor for the last few decks I have built and the County Building Inspector loves to see them used. I am in Pinal County, Arizona.
