These are 5.5 x 5.5. My post were 5.75 x 5.75. They were not big enough. I had to shave the base of the post to make them work

I've used hundreds of these bases. Excellent quality and durability. They are a little pricey but well worth it to do the job right.

My comments will not show verified purchase, but I am reporting on an installation of 2 of these brackets I made in 2001.
I installed them in hardened concrete to support an overhead backyard deck extension of appx 10'x12' using wolmanized 6x6 posts.
Nothing could be easier and the stand off from my constantly wet deck area is just what's needed.
Those posts look like they were installed yesterday, and I could and would gladly use the area enclosed as the base for an upper deck area, it's that firm.
Another reviewer posted twice that these could be pushed over by hand.
Well, come to my house and let me show you what you did wrong.
If you expected to be able to free-stand a post, you're on the wrong track. They are meant to support a post that's going to have horizontal attachments, like a sturdy fence gate, or decking corner posts.
So buy with confidence, get the right kind of masonry bolts and the right sized masonry bit and go to town.
